Hair Loss (Definition)

Hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia, can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles or fungal infections. There are two main types of alopecia. Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. Lifestyle: Go to bed at the same time every night and wake at the same time, do not nap. Do not eat heavily at night and limit alcohol and caffeine. Speak with GYN: If you had an epidural then a wet tap complication is possible but you need to discuss with your gyn and the anesthesiologist. A wet tap is where the needle causes a small leak of spinal fluid and lead to headaches and some back pain. Does not cause hair loss but that can be hormonal changes after the pregnancy. May not be related: Nausea, vomiting or dyspepsia can happen with intake of medications. In order to avoid it we recommend taking it with food. You may try to do that. I am not certain but you could have an infectious disease or even cancer or some other illness that has not been properly diagnosed yet.
