Flu like symptoms after flu vaccine. Is this contagious?

Flu like symptoms after flu vaccine. Is this contagious?

Depends: If you had the nasal product this is a living virus and you could pass the "vaccine strain" to others. This might produce mild or no symptoms if passed. There is no way that you get or pass the injectable flu vaccine. It is a dead virus. If you had symptoms it is due to a reaction to getting the vaccine, not a flu. ...Read more

Swine flu reoccurrence? Can someone get swine flu twice?

Swine flu reoccurrence? Can someone get swine flu twice?

Short answer - yes: Swine flu is really only one form of several strains of influenza. Sometimes the doctor or nurse practitioner calls your illness "flu-like"(like swine flu) and treats you for it empirically, even without specifically testing for flu (nose swab test). Later, if you have a repeat of similar symptoms, then this could be labelled a recurrence of "swine flu". My office tests for flu--not swine flu. ...Read more

Had stomach virus (think) 3days ago, felt better one day, now fever again, weakness, cough, malaise, headache. Still stomach virus or?

Hard to know: Two phase illnesses like yours are recognised in the study of infections and usually but not always mean virus. Where you live is an important clue. In any case it is impossible to diagnose you with this condition online. Doesn't sound like a stomach virus. If you don't recover quickly and perhaps even if you do ~I would go and see a doctor, an Infectious Disease doctor if you can. ...Read more

With activated vaccine can you get flu from flu shot?

With activated vaccine can you get flu from flu shot?

Nasal vs injected: What you mean by activated is unclear. There is no activated vaccine I am aware of. The injected vaccine is prepared from inactivated (killed) virus & cannot give you the flu. You can develop a shot reaction (mild) but it is not the flu. The nasal mist is a much weakened but live virus & rarely causes a mild flu like illness, but far less intense than a regular flu would be. ...Read more

I'm getting shingles outbreaks, can I get the shingles vaccine?

Yes: But, it may not be covered by insurance. Many insurers cover it starting at age 60. I could help boost your immunity and is probably worth the expense (about $250). 24 y/o fm, flu +, tamiflu (oseltamivir) side effect of diarrhea, day 1 menses, 103* temp. Poss kidney pain/cramp, acid bubbles in stomach related to fever reducer?

Usual flu s/s: What you are describing are pretty typical influenza signs and symptoms. Even though you are on tamiflu, (oseltamivir) these are not going to disappear today or tomorrow. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) reduces the length of illness by a day or two, but until then, you will feel like you do and run fever as you are. If the urinary symptoms worsen, make sure you have not developed a urinary tract infection on top of things. ...Read more

Sneezing, sinus congestion, chills, sweats, diarrhea, nausea. Vomiting every 1-2 hours. I got my flu shot this year.

Explanation : These all symptoms most likely related to other viral infection, not flu. To help yourself you need to drink fluids by small amount but very often to prevent dehydration, first of all. Diet with a lot of rice, apple sauce, toast, banana are helpful. Advil or Motrin may help with chills. And Day/nyouil is helpful for sinus congestion. Be well soon. ...Read more
