Iron tablets giving me bad stomach cramps and loose stools. Is this normal and when should it pass?
Common side effect:
What you are experiencing are common side effects of oral iron. You may try a different preparation. If you can not tolerate oral iron talk to your doctor about taking it intravenously. Intravenous treatment can be done in one sitting.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. In the morning I have severe stomach cramps and loose stool. This will occur for a week or two and go away then come back. Otherwise healthy, no pain?
Get GI evaluation: It's difficult to say for sure without detailed history and exam, however your symptoms could be from excessive acid, irritable bowel or chronic inflammation. Start by seeing your PCP, who will then refer you to a GI specialist if indicated. You need to establish a relationship with a local primary care physician to help you get the best care available. ...Read more
Swollen nodes in groin area, stomach cramps and loose stool for a week. Last night had an episode of vomiting. Unprotected sex 2 wks Ago. HIV?
Unlikely. Get tested:
Acute HIV seroconversion occurs "several " weeks after infection. Two weeks is a little early, but not impossible. I doubt HIV infection from unprotected sex two weeks earlier since these symptoms are not the typical symptoms of acute HIV seroconversion infection.
The way to exclude it with complete certainty is to measure HIV viral load by PCR. Antibody tests are usually negative. ...Read more

What can be taken to relieve what appears to be a GI bug.......Stomach cramps, some nausea, loose stool?
This is third night I've developed a headache, then stomach cramps that lead to loose stools. I feel fine til evening. A 'bug' should last all day so?
Yes but????: This is only happening in the evenings. Are you at work during the day? Could something in your environment be causing this? Is it something you are consuming in the afternoon or evening hours? Any change in your medication? These are all things to look into and if symptoms persist, you definitely need to see a doctor for evaluation ...Read more

If not improved in another week, then get back to us or see a clinician locally. Hope that helps. ...Read more

On the mend?: Depending upon the nature of your food poisoning, particularly if an invasive bacteria was involved, you can experience post-infectious irritability (some use the term post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome). Of course, persistence of symptoms warrants evaluation to rule out other pathology that needs treatment. May also consider: food allergy or previously unsuspected food intolerance here. ...Read more
Upper middle stomach cramps, started of with diarrhoea & feeling of passing stool but not happening. What could it be?
Very painful stomach cramps everytime before passing stool. Started few months back. Recently had abnormal cells papsmear. Any relation?
Not likely: The pain before your bowel movement could be irritable bowel syndrome or some other colon issue. Some women do have pain with bowel movement with endometriosis as well. Your abnormal cells are usually related to hpv infection and/or use of tobacco. If you had invasive cervical cancer certainly that could cause rectal pain, but that doesn't sound like your situation. ...Read more

4_5 soft stools daily since teenaged, now I am 36. Worse when traveling or stressed. How to cure, sometimes along with stomach cramps. What is the reason.
Melenic stool?: Dark-colored stools may result from iron supplements, foods you eat (like a lot of spinach), substances (like peptobismol), but most significantly suggests bleeding.
