Stitching The Cervix During Pregnancy
I suffered pprom at 16 weeks in my twin gestation and lost my boys at 25 weeks. In my next pregnancy should my cervix be stitched/sewn?
Not necessarily.: It depends on your other obstetrical outcomes too; your history does not mean you have an incompetent cervix that merits cervical cerclage placement. I am sorry you had such a bad outcome with your previous pregnancy, however if you have a singleton pregnancy next time your risk should be back at baseline (11-12% for the U.S.). Take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily from now on to prevent sptd. ...Read more
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

During the first week or two of pregnancy, is the cervix tender (would I experience the same symptoms and sighns of ovulating) or no?
Why would polyps on cervix cause spotting during pregnancy if untouched by intercourse or anything else?
Very friable: Emdocervical polyps bleed easily in pregnancy simply from the engorgement (swelling) that occurs with pregnancy. The polyp wall is thin, erodes easily, and can bleed spontaneously especially if extruding from the cervix. Better to deal with it after delivery unless it causes problems. ...Read more
I am 8 weeks pregnant with my first child and was told my cervix is tilted towards my rectum. Will this cause pain and/or issues during my pregnancy?
Diagnosed with incompetent cervix during my last pregnancy. I am now 7 weeks pregnant and have a small amount of boogery discharge. Is this normal?
Unrelated: An incompetent cervix rarely causes any problems before the second trimester. About 1/2 of all pregnancies have some bleeding in the first trimester. Half of these go on and have normal babies. The other half end up with miscarriages, usually because of something wrong with the baby. This is why cerclages aren't placed to treat incompetent cervix until after the ierst trimester. Hope this helps. ...Read more

24 weeks pregnant, my gyn prescribed me itamelagin because my cervix is 1cm open. Are these suppositories save during pregnancy?
I've had a cerclage during my last pregnancy, a miscarriage before that one. Now im not pregnant and I feel like my cervix is open?
This can happen: A feeling like a mass or lump in your vagina, maybe as if something is going to fall or come out especially when having a bowel movement, suggests uterine prolapse, where the uterus moves down when other pelvic structures are weakened by a delivery. It can cause incontinence or bladder pain. You would not feel an "open cervix, " but you should have this checked out by an OB or primary care doc. ...Read more

Cervix seems very sensitive during early pregnancy (4 wks). Brown spotting and bleeding after sex. Is a test of progesterone level needed?
No: The cervical blood vessels can be very near the surface. They are more engorged with blood and become more fragile due to the pregnancy and increased estrogen. The cervix always seems more "touchy" and cramps during pregnancy. All of this is normal. But you should be checked to make sure there is no other cause for your bleeding. ...Read more
What are risks of manual cervical checks by the ob during pregnancy? Placenta contamination, preterm labor? Had 2 checks in 2 weeks, cervix is fine.
I had one doctor say yes and another say no so can running during pregnancy cause preterm labor? Can running cause the cervix to dilate?
Went for a physical 1-2 weeks after period. Doctor said my cervix is thin and I bled during PAP. Does that mean ill have issues carrying pregnancy?
Not necessarily.: It's very common to bleed a little from a pap. Sometimes it is due to mild cervicitis (sometimes due to infection, sometimes not), something it's just because this is a delicate tissue and scraping it makes it bleed. That alone is no indication that you will have problems carrying a pregnancy to term. Go over your concerns with your doc, when results of PAP and other tests are back. ...Read more
