Bone healed in 5 th metatarsal fracture.. Does nerve damage cause swelling & pain in foot ankle leg thigh and my hip? Ankle cracks some painfull
Wound care: It is impertive that your tetanus is up to date and the wound has been thouroughly cleansed. In general. Clean, moist wounds whose edges are well approximated under minimal tension will tend to produce optimal scarring. Gentle cleansing of a contaminated wound with subsequent moist dressings will general produce the least prominent scar. Scar massage/pressure/occlusion may help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

4 mths postORIF (met. nonunion)-still swelling, pain and redness. Healing incomplete on xray. Foot swells in shoes- would vacocast again help healing?
Get another opinion.: I'm not clear whether the 4 months post ORIF describes the correction of a metatarsal fracture that has resulted in a non-union, or the ORIF was designed to correct a previous non-union. Either way, the fracture site is unstable and/or could be showing the onset of a more serious cellulitis problem. What you have to ask yourself is, just how much faith do you have in the course of your treatment. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Broke big toe on 8/12. Detached toenail. Skin is falling off in sheets from ALL toes on the foot. No cast. Walking boot, now surgical shoe. Why?
Quit Sloughing off.: Skin sloughing, particularly after a period of immobilization and departure from one's daily bathing routine, is almost a given when the immobilization and swelling end. Layers of dead skin cells that are normally sloughed during one's daily routine have piled up and are revealed as these skin "sheets". One can only imagine how much skin is shedded daily by your body daily. ...Read more
Cut leg 4 weeks ago. Healing, but flesh inside cut is 'popping out' of wound. What is the significance? Used bacitraition, bandages and ACE bandage wrap.
Will walking around in the cast shoe delay my healing process whereas crutches could speed it up maybe?
Yes: Anytime it flares up during a return to activity, it becomes 'acute' again which usually signifies inflammation. Ice is best for that. At that stage you can ice for 10 minutes then do a warm wet towel massage to the area to help move the fluid along as well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Fractured fibula, high ankle sprain 5 wk. No surgery, immobilized, no weight. Still having signif. Foot swelling, numb toes and darker color top foot.
NOrmal: Pain and swelling after a combined fracture/dislocation can persist for months. Follow up with ortho doc and xrays is required and pt is almost manidtory to regain motion and function. The numbness associated with a fracture sprain usually come from stretching the nerve(s) and may take up to a year to resolve. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
2 1/2 weeks post bunionectomy, osteotemy , dislocation repair. The skin around the incision area is peeling off in big pieces. Is that normal?
Swelling in foot- rest/immobilization for other foot (also swollen- surgery). Is swelling in uninjured foot normal? Due to decreased activity?
Your question is: A little confusing secondarily to your shorthand. The decreased activity can indeed cause swelling. However, if you had surgery on the other foot and are now putting pressure on the other foot it is also possible to get an overuse injury or even a stress fracture so I would keep that in the differential diagnosis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
