Clinic visit needed: There are many causes of abdominal pain, some of which can be simply annoying, like constipation, others can be deadly. The best way to make sure it's nothing dangerous is to be examined by a health care provider. Most of the time the cause can be determined with a physical exam and a few simple tests. Less often, an imaging study or looking inside the belly with a scope is needed.

I keep getting like a stitch feeling in my left and right side of my abdominal area that comes and goes. Is this normal?

No: It could be a kidney stone, which can be caused by many things including dehydration. I recommend seeing your doctor for a thorough exam & history to figure out what is going on.

LLQ pain: Could be ovarian from cysts (when ovulating you make a cyst) or infection in vagina or fallopian tubes, or may be from colon- stool gas, diverticuli (rare at young age), or from kidney. Would follow up with urgent care doc check urine, check for vaginal discharge may consider sonogram to check ovaries

I have a dull, stitch like pain on my left side, horizontal to my belly button. I've also had thick spotting over the last week, mostly old blood?

Possible cyst: A bleeding ovarian cyst can possibly cause the symptoms that you are describing. When such a cyst ruptures, the resulting fluid and blood can irritate the inside of your pelvic wall and cause the symptoms described, and the fluid and blood can also travel down the Fallopian tube into the uterus, causing abnormal spotting of old blood. But if the pain is getting worse, see a doctor.

See your doctor: It would be best, especially since you have had these symptoms for a week now, to see your doctor for evaluation and treatment.

Pain like cramp or stitch in stomach on left side just under rib cage. 1wk ago started after going long trips in van. Now occurs more. What's the cause?

Pain like cramp or stitch in stomach on left side just under rib cage. 1wk ago started after going long trips in van. Now occurs more. What's the cause?

Several causes: There could be several potential causes. It could be causes by a muscle strain, costochondritis, spleen, colon, kidney, stomach, or pulmonary. If you are feeling better, it may be more of a strain. If symptoms persist, see a MD. As you where on a long van ride, I would worry about a pulmonary embolism. If your symptoms are associated with any shortness of breath, I would consult your physician ASAP

I've found what looks like a fag burn kind of hole just on the inside of my anus, also sometimes wake up with stitch like pain in bottom left abdomen?

Needs exam: It's difficult to say what this might be based on your description. If you are concerned about a change in the area of your anus, you should have this looked at for a diagnosis. Hard stool can cause an irritation/split in the lining of the anus that will usually heal on its own after about a week. If you symptoms continue, please see a doctor.

Abdominal discomfort: Recurrent left lower abdominal discomfort could be due to muscular irritation/inflammation, diverticulitis, ovarian pathology, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease. I recommend that you have an examination by your physician, especially if there's associated tenderness since symptoms have been occurring on and off for two weeks.

Many possibilities: If you are midcycle this could be ovulation. It also could be GI related as the ceceum is located in that area and may collect gas. Either of these should be mild and resolve soon. If this worsens you should see your doctor.

Still got swelling right side abdomen ten days post laparoscopy. Dr said body is trying to push out the stitches. What does this mean?

Still got swelling right side abdomen ten days post laparoscopy. Dr said body is trying to push out the stitches. What does this mean?

Likely normal: I do not know what surgery you had, or if the swelling you describe is located at one of the surgical sites. Swelling after any surgery is normal, and it can take a few weeks for swelling at a healing scar to resolve. It can depend on the size & location of the incision, what sutures were used, etc. Follow the directions of your surgeon.

I keep getting a "stitch-like" pain in my upper left abdomen., up towards the sternum. It isn't constant, but has been happening throughout the day. What could this be?

Spasm: It is most likely a stitch, which is just another name for a muscle spasm. Frequently it's in the muscles between the ribs or the muscles that attach below the ribs. It is related to muscle fatigue, or overwork. Pain in the upper left abdomen. Also can be coming from the stomach or lower esophagus. This type can be a burning type discomfort or sometimes a sharp stabbing-like discomfort.
