What causes pins and stinging feeling in my thighs?

What causes pins and stinging feeling in my thighs?

Pinched nerve?: Usually that type of feeling is coming from the nerves being pinched or pushed on somehow. The skin neves run along the top of the thigh, so make sure you are not wearing tight pants. Also, leaning against a counter for several hours can cause that. They can also be getting pinched due to arthritis or other problems in the spine. That is more likely at your age. I'd see your doc to get checked. ...Read more

Had a c cection on march 31st and ever since my right thigh feels numb and pain when I push on it and random stinging feeling?

R L3 nerve problem: During your c-section I presume you were awake with a spinal or epidural. The anesthesia may have caused a right sided compression on the lumbar -l3 nerve to your right thigh causing persistent numbness, pain, 'stinging'. It should improve with time but an lumbar MRI may help sort out the diagnosis. Hope you are better soon! ...Read more

When I stretch my leg, I feel this odd stinging pain at the back of my thigh. No strenuous things. Could being on accutane have anything to do with?

Accutane connection: It would be unlikely that Accutane would be the reason of your thigh pain. Make sure that you are hydrated, that you have not hurt your thigh with another activity. At night sometimes I get a pain in my thigh that feel like a bee sting when I'm sleep then it's leave? What causes that?

Think about this: If it's on the lateral upper thigh, think about a condition called meralgia paresthetica. This is a mild neuropathy caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. It could cause symptoms like this on the thigh. It is often relieved by avoiding tight belts or losing weight etc.

Where is the feeling, and how long does it last? ...Read more

What causes this burning and pain in my right thigh area I have no known health issues but my leg burns and stings really bad

Whenever: Whenever I hear the word "burning" from patients describing what they feel, I also think "nerve." you might have sciatica, or a problem with a disc in your lower back that is impinging on a nerve, which can cause burning or pain anywhere further down the leg, from the thigh to the toes.

Have you ever had problems with your back before, or was there ever an injury?

While an x-ray may be one of the first things your doctor might order, it really takes an MRI to diagnose disc problems. You might also be well to get an EMG / ncv, which are electrical tests to measure nerve conduction, to see if there is a nerve that is being pinched.

Hope this helps. ...Read more

My left side of my thigh has a stinging/burning feeling. Also, my calls feel numb sometimes. Is it dangerous? And what is it?

Likely: What is referred to as meralgia paresthetica, which is compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which supplies sensation to the surface of your outer thigh. This often is related to this superficial nerve being "squeezed" as it passes through the groin. Overall, this is only a guess and while it's unlikely that what you have going on is dangerous, it still should be evaluated by a doc ...Read more

What is a good treatment to relieve a burning, stinging, pins and needles type pain shooting down the side of my thigh and into my knee?

Neuro specialist: You may have a condition called meralgia paresthetica but as the burning goes into your knee, you should have an MRI and see a neurologist or neurosurgeon to make sure this is not a herniated disk or problem with the L3 or L4 nerve. Sometimes far lateral disks can cause pressure on a nerve ganglion and cause those symptoms. Seek a specialist to help clear it up. ...Read more

Shingles?: There isn't enough information to answer your question, but if this has been a problem for just a day or two, and you have had no injury to the area or to your lower back, I would consider possible shingles.
