Maybe strep, etc...: Nose and throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, allergies, etc... It can be difficult to tell what the cause is. If symptoms only last 1-2 days, it was likely allergies, irritation, or a mild cold. Just started?: If this just started then I would suspect a viral infection. See an Urgent Care or your Family Doctor for evaluation. If you have had this for weeks or months then it is a little more difficult to say. I would suggest seeing your Family Doctor or a Rheumatologist for evaluation and blood work. We in internetville cannot do the diagnostics. I hope it's nothing serious, but I've seen conditions present like that, that ARE serious. ? Head cold?: It sounds like a bad case of virus infection. It will take a few days to resolve. I would advise you to take tylenol (acetaminophen) 2 tablets every 6 hourly for the next 2-3 days. This will relieve the pain. If you have a runny nose or sinus congestion, you could take over the counter decongestant. You c an also buy combinations of 2-3 head cold medicines which contain decongestants along with tylenol (acetaminophen). ...Read more
