My two year old son seems to have a stiff neck, no fever presently and although he is not lethargic, he doesn't seem himself. Could this be serious?

Stiff neck: He may have a wry neck from sleeping in a wrong position. If it doesn't clear up in a day or two, consult your pediatrician another possibility are swollen lymph nodes following an upper respiratory infection.

Can meningitis go away? Ii had a stiff neck and fever/headache for a day but feel fine now. Head hurts sometimes though. Or could it be my posture?

Those: Symptoms do not mean meningitis. You have to rule it out by running tests including spinal fluid. I think it is more posture related like you said from your line of work or staying in the computer too long. Always see your doctor if condition worsened. Relax and get enough sleep 8 hours at least!

Sounds likes: A very bad headache. Maybe even a migraine. 80% of migraines are associated with neck pain. Does light or sound make it worse? Are you nauseated? A hazy feeling in the head is common with a migraine. Not knowing what you are taking or have taken it is hard to give treatment advice. At the onset I take 3 excedrine to try to ward off my headaches.

Possible infection: It is impossible to tell for sure, but you might want to check with a dentist to rule out any type of infection or change in the bone in that area. You also have salivary glands in that area and you want to rule out any type of infection.

A: A diagnosis is very difficult to make without a proper history and physical. Based on your post it sounds like you may be dealing with a sinus, ear, or throat infection. However the stiff neck is a little worrisome because it could be a sign of meningitis (inflammation of the membranes surrounding your brain and spinal cord), typically meningitis is accompanied by fever. Regardless you need to be evaluated by a medical professional right away for work up, diagnosis, and treatment. Good luck.

Why do I always get a stiff neck with a fever?

Why do I always get a stiff neck with a fever?

Myalgia v lymph node: With many viral illnesses, muscle aches (maylgia), incl. neck pain/stiffness is common. Another possibility is that your immune system, in fighting the illness, causes lymph nodes in your neck to swell. This also can cause similar symptoms. If this is common for you, you may try NSAIDS like ibuprofen or naproxen to relieve both the fever & pain. Stay away from aspirin while feverish (Reye's Synd risk)

I have a headache and stiff neck but no fever?

I have a headache and stiff neck but no fever?

Could be many things: If you're prone to migraine, that could actually be a migraine prodrome. Alternatively, viral infections (flu, stomach cold, etc) commonly give aseptic meningitis - not life threatening, but painful head & neck ache. Lastly, tension-type headaches often present that way. See your neurologist to make sure it isn't anything serious.

Get evaluated now.: Get someone to take you to the emergency room right now. A severe headache with a very stiff neck and a fever could be meningitis! forgive me if I have alarmed you, but this is potentially very serious. Do not take a chance with this. Get seen now. Lgromkomd.

Could a stiff neck and no fever be a sign for meningitis?

Could a stiff neck and no fever be a sign for meningitis?

Possibly: Sometimes fever is hard to feel or detect, and sometimes it is suppressed by medications. However, you should note that stiff neck is a loose term when used by laypeople. When used by doctors, it means inability to flex your neck and touch your chest with the chin.

13
Is it possible that a stiff neck and no fever be symptoms of meningitis?

Stiff neck: Yes, but unfortunately, like a headache could be a brain tumor, but rarely is. Isolated neck stiffness without a setting of exposure would be unusual as an isolated sign of meningitis, but if progressive and associated with other symptoms shouldn't be discounted too easily.

Son has stiff neck but no fever. Has complained of headache here and there. Has dr. Appt tom. How likely is meningitis or something serious?

Meningitis: Viral meningitis is a remote possibility, but if this were bacterial your son would likely be critically ill. If he has fever, persistent headache, nausea, vomiting, alterations in sensorium or level of consciousness, etc., he should be seen ASAP. Take him to an ER if necessary.

I have a sore throat and a stiff neck with no fever and kind of weak. I've tried throat spray, muscle rub, Vicks, and day quill with no relief.?

Doctor can evaluate: Throat pain can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to see about antibiotics). A complaint of "stiff neck" sometimes means serious things. A Dr. Should check.

5days ago I gave a blow job & now I started feeling sick bones are sore, stiff neck, fever, sore throat, shaking, sweating at night, bumps on tongue. Culture showed strep. Can it really be hiv? Or of it was hiv the culture wouldn't show strep

HIV vs Strep: HIV RNA, Rapid antibody test – would likely not give a positive for HIV within 5 days of contact. A culture that is positive for strep means that the bacteria was actually grown out. That means that it was not HIV that was grown. You can be tested separately for HIV.

My son has a recurrent stiff neck with low grade fever, weight loss that will has been going on for the last 4 months on and off. Any thoughts?

See your doctor: Without knowing how old your child is, weight loss is not normal in children. Make a list of the symptoms, duration, and timing and see your doctor for a thorough history and physical. Best wishes.

Meningitis?: I certainly don't like the sound of what you're going through. I can't guarantee that this is meningitis, but I can strongly recommend you get evaluated in an emergency room, just to be safe. You should go tonight.
