With bacterial meningitis is a high fever above 103 always present. Being flu season could sore/stiff neck+headache but no real fever just be the flu?

Possibly: It is possible that your symptoms are all related to the flu. With the flu, you can have headaches and body aches. But if your headache is severe and you have a stuff neck it would be good to get checked out. Meningitis is a serious infection, and it's not the kind of thing that you'd want to 'wait it out' with. ...Read more

Can meningitis go away? Ii had a stiff neck and fever/headache for a day but feel fine now. Head hurts sometimes though. Or could it be my posture?

Stiff neck headache: Get in to see a dr if you can. Majority of the time your dr can tell if this is something serious or not by taking a good history and exam. Maybe cervicogenic, vertebral aneurysm, tension, aseptic meningitis, some serious & some not so serious. Sprain of the muscles of the back of the slap if you slept funny. Hard to know. If light sensitivity, nausea, vomiting, worsening, headache, go in asap ...Read more

I have a headache and stiff neck but no fever?

Could be many things: If you're prone to migraine, that could actually be a migraine prodrome. Alternatively, viral infections (flu, stomach cold, etc) commonly give aseptic meningitis - not life threatening, but painful head & neck ache. Lastly, tension-type headaches often present that way. See your neurologist to make sure it isn't anything serious. ...Read more

I suggest your seek medical evaluation ASAP either through your Doctor's office or Urgent Care. The worse case scenario, meningitis, needs to be excluded. Good wishes:) ...Read more

Stiff neck no Temp: Hello ~ if this was meningitis I don't think you would be in fit condition to ask the question. The stiff neck is probably musculature and responds well to massage, PT, heat and ADVIL (ibuprofen). Meningitis (both bact&viral) are accompanied by FEVER and headache. This is absent here. Try some PT or a massage & ADVIL (ibuprofen) for pain thx ...Read more
