Need PCP evaluation: not enough information for reason why ranitidine prescribed. Infant needs a thorough PE to evaluate problem. I suggest stopping the ranitidine to exclude possible side effects, unless aspiration following feeding has occurred. Many babies erp up a lot but grow normally. ...Read more

Should be examined: Pain is an indication something is wrong. You may wish to check with your md or dentist, but this is not normal and should be examined now. If you cannot open very wide (3 finger widths) then it might be your jaw function. If you are waking with headaches it might also involve your sleep and airway at night. Probably normal: There are numerous larger bumps on the back and sides of tongue. These papillae have various functions like you taste buds. I would be more concerned about white growths on the side of your tongue since it is the most common site for cancer in your mouth. You may want to google tongue anatomy to compare your findings.
