Sticking Out Belly Button In Men
1)can patent urachus suddenly occur out of the blue at age of 20 in men? 2)can poking ur belly button punture a hole that lets urine leak out?
1) Yes. 2) No.: A patent urachus is a still open congenital connection between the umbilicus (bellybutton) and the dome of the bladder. Poking your bellybutton will not cause it. A patent urachus is manifested by urine leaking out of the bellybutton or infection of the abdominal wall or bladder. Although we usually see it in younger children, it can become apparent in an older child or adult. Surgery is needed. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hernia likely: If you had a laparoscopic appendectomy (surgery via a small telescope), there will be a scar from an incision near the belly button. If this wound did not heal properly a hernia could have developed, this wound be a lump under the incision that is tender, may come and go, usually resolves when lying down, may enlarge in size. There could also be inflammation in the area which could cause a lump. Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Yes: A hernia near the belly button causes a lump in the area that comes and goes, worse when standing or pushing out with the abdominal muscles. Usually goes away or at least a lot smaller when lying down. The treatment is surgical repair if it is causing symptoms. If the hernia becomes stuck out and won't go back inside it is an emergency and you should see a doctor right away. Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is it possible to have an umbilical hernia without the belly button sticking out or it being visible at all?
Can u get a hernia in ur belly button? It doesn't bulge at all, nor hurt really, but kind of goes up & down when I stick my finger in & push. No pain.
YES, umbilical hernia: Yes! Umbilical hernias are common (there is a natural defect from birth-from the umbilical cord). When you push on the hernia-you are 'reducing it'. When a hernia becomes painful they should be repaired (usually with a gortex patch). Most important: an 'incarcerated hernia' where the hernia remains bulged out with severe pain (due to lack of blood flow to an area or bowel intestine)--emergency! Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
