Steriods Infections Does This Affect The Creatinine Level
Infections are invasions of some other organism (fungus, bacteria, parasite) or viruses into places where they do not belong. For instance, we have normal gut bacteria that live within us without causing problems; however, when those penetrate the bowel wall and enter the bloodstream, ...Read more
Does masterbating affect muscle growth ? Does it decrease testosterone level ? In how time does the lowered testosterone level become normal ?
Masturbation is: normal, healthy, and natural. It does not cause any negative effects on your muscles or testosterone levels. In fact, boys who masturbate a lot may have elevated testosterone levels. You are likely feeling guilty about this due to social pressures. Don't worry about what others tell you about this private matter. Chances are the people who are telling you to stop are doing it also. ...Read more
Neurogenic bladder. Can bun 74 creatinine 2.5 values improve with b12? It went down to 44/1.5. Does the ratio indicate azotemia or urinary retention?
I've done blood test today and my Creatine Kinase level shown is 322 IU/L. What does that indicate? How can I reduce this CK level to normal range?
Muscle issue: Creatine Kinase is an enzyme in muscles and any issue affecting the muscles, including exercise, can raise CK levels. You need to address the cause of the elevation. You may consult this site and then discuss the matter with your doctor who ordered the test. http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.com/test-catalog/Clinical+and+Interpretive/8336 ...Read more

What does it mean to have high dhea sulfate levels (elevated adrenal hormones)? What are the problems associated with this? What can it lead to?
By itself: A high (how high) dheas level may mean nothing at all. I don't know why the level would have been drawn in the first place. It can be significantly (not slightly) elevated in a variety of ovarian or adrenal problems, including pcos. It is also stimulated by certain medications. As a solitary finding without other clinical information, however, it has no value. Talk w/the doctor who ordered it, . ...Read more
Do low or high blood serotonin level in children affect their bone growth ? To what extent it's effect?
Under investigation: I've heard little since 2011 but it's true that hi levels played a role in suppressing bone growth. There was a NYTimes piece: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/27/health/research/27bone.html and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2940494/ Other systems ae involved too. Blood alcohol concen: Tration? If B12 levels are low does this affect ferritin level. I have heard that if B12 low this puts more pressure on ferritin stores.
Says who?: If your serum B12 is low, you're seriously sick and this needs to be addressed while you and your physician are also trying to figure out why you're iron deficient (I see you are taking ferrous sulfate and vitamin D). If you've made yourself sick as a non-supplementing vegetarian, please reconsider. Otherwise, please continue the workup for low B12 & why you're iron-deficient. ...Read more

What causes EPO level to drop. Can it be something not serious. Kidneys scan and ceatinine level in blood normal. Got moderate anemia. Epo low. 70 yrs?
Anemia in a 70'er: The 70 year old person likely has chronic kidney disease (CKD), despite having a normal level creatinine. My doctor told me my creatinine level is too high and we should decrease the Prograf dose. What problem can a high creatine level cause?
Creatinine elevation: Creatinine, produced by muscle cells,is not toxic. The level in blood is a marker of kidney function. Increased level usually indicates reduced kidney function. Prograf is an extremely important medication for transplant patients to prevent immune rejection but can cause toxicity to kidneys. The dose has to be adjusted within a very narrow range to try to prevent both rejection and kidney injury. ...Read more
What can be the cause of an elevated dhea sulfate level (elevated adrenal hormones) of 599 mcg/dl? What does it mean if it's idiopathic?
Not that high: A dhea-s of 599 (correct -comes from the adrenals) is somewhat increased but will usually not cause problems. It would help to know the reason why it was done. If periods are irregular other tests were probably run and if normal would be reassuring. If periods very irregular and increased facial hair you should definitely see an endocrinologist if you have not done so to look for other things. ...Read more

FSH is 28 and LH 10.2 due to chemo damage to testicles. T levels are normal, but could the elevated FSH/LH levels predispose me to Gynomastia?
Unlikely: Unlikely with normal T. Gynecomastia triggered by a decrease in the amount of the hormone testosterone compared with estrogen. Most cases of gynecomastia either idiopathic or related to medications. Elevated FSH: implies damage to the sperm producing cells which make up most of the volume of the testis. Elevated LH: implies damage to the Leydig cells in the testis which produce testosterone. ...Read more
