How long should steri-strip stay on a cut which is about 3cm long, will strips fall by themselves, and can it get wet? Thank you.
Steri Stripts: It is often best to let these dry out and as they get to the point they are falling off you can then just pull them off the rest of the way. But it is often about being patient and letting the skin heal underneath. ...Read more
I had my gallbladder removed 3 days ago. One of my steri strips have came off and I am having similar but not as intense of pain as before. Normal?
Pain after GB rem: if you are having similar pain, get some blood work looking at your liver function and pancreas function. These are simple blood tests to see if a retained gallstone is stuck in your bile duct. If there is a stone, it can be removed with an endoscope. Your steri strip falling off is not a problem unless there is drainage from the incision. Your surgeon can order the bloodworm and check the incisio ...Read more
It depends: First, you should make your surgeon aware of this problem. He or she may suggest nothing at all but could also possibly suggest saline wound wash, cetaphil, or other over-the-counter products to clean the wound. ...Read more
Flufloxacillin: As far as I know Flufloxacillin and amoxicillin are penicillin cousins that have similar spectrum and efficacy. Steristrips usually come in a package. I had lapascopic surgery 2 weeks ago and i juat took off my steri-strips and discoverd clear stitches..I always though stitches were black?
Sutures OK: Not all suture material is black colored. In fact, the majority of the suture used at the skin is clear or white. We often use a clear plastic-like suture for the laparoscopic incisions called monocryl. It is "dissolvable" and will go away in time. If it protrudes or bothers you, have your surgeon remove the piece in the office. Good observation! ...Read more

Contact your MD: If you do have a contact allergy to the steri-strip then it has to come off but then the skin at your c-section wound will open increasing the risk of infection and a big scar. Contact your ob-gyn to diagnose the condition and if it is contact allergy versus, for example, an infection, then an alternate method of skin closure can be provided if needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ok my problem is, why did my incision healed over not under half of the steri-strips that was place over my incision on the abdominal area?
1 yo w/ wound on chin that was glued shut 4 days ago. Er cleaned, glued/steri strip it shut. Glue gone, it reopened, not bleeding. He need stitches?
No not now: If a wound opens like this the wound would either have to be operated on again or allowed to heal by itself. Keep it clean and apply some antibacterial ointment. At some stage once healed if it leaves a bad scar (when more grown up), you or they may want it revised to look better. Babies heal very well with little scarring though, so wait and see. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
