You can tell him: him the harmful impact of his untreated anxiety disorder on your relationship, daily functioning & quality of life & offer to accompany him to see a psychiatrist & psychiatrist for treatment. How is the best way to educate my sleep time? Its hard to me to sleep at same hour, and I prefer to work at night. I need to take care of myself.

How is the best way to educate my sleep time? Its hard to me to sleep at same hour, and I prefer to work at night. I need to take care of myself.

Routine: If you mean what is the best way to have a good night sleep, having a good routine at bedtime is the best. Always go to bed around the same time and use the bed only for sleep and intercourse. Do not watch tv right before going to sleep. Do not exercise close to bedtime. Do not have a lot of alcohol or heavy meals in the evening and especially before bedtime. Always wake up at the same time. ...Read more

Is it okay for me to do back exercises during a vipassana meditation course?

Is it okay for me to do back exercises during a vipassana meditation course?

Mindful Yoga?: I don't know the specific back problem you have, or what type of back exercises you're considering. The vipassana retreat i just attended included some gentle, mindful yoga -- and people were of course free to amend postures according to any physical limitations they had (like back pain, etc). Please ask your doctor about any specific limitations s/he feels you need to observe with exercise. ...Read more

How to encourage stressed, anxious mind to feel sleepy after going to bed (without distracting it with tv - this works but is a problem to a partner)?

Counting Sheep?: I generally start with general "sleep hygiene" measures and prefer natural supplements to prescription sleeping pills for many reasons. I reported on some of these in a recent blog (http://healthremedies.Com/blog/the-dangers-of-sleeping-pills-what-are-the-alternatives/). Ingredients i look for: l-theanine, 5-htp, melatonin, valerian, passiflora, gaba, mg, no sheep. Although counting them helps. ...Read more

I struggle for more than 3 hours to go to sleep. I've tried all the home remedies given on the net.I don't want to take medicines. Suggest a remedy?

Get ready for sleep: A couple of easy tricks that may work if you've tried the usual "home remedies". Don't use any technology that emits led light (including computer, cell phone, tablet, etc -as these can drop your natural melatonin levels because your body thinks it is daylight - for 2 hours before bed. Also, body temp drops before sleep, so put feet in warm water and then allow to cool in air to drop temp. ...Read more

Will getting a nissen surgery for GERD help me to sleep better at night?

Will getting a nissen surgery for GERD help me to sleep better at night?

Possibly: Many people with reflux have their worst problems at night when laying flat; sleeping more upright with pillows or even putting the head of the bed elevated on blocks can help. If the reflux is unresponsive to maximal medical management, surgery is an option. I strongly advise you to have a 24 hr pH study to objectively measure what is happening when you sleep before considering surgery. ...Read more

What can I do to sleep fast at nights? Often, it takes me like 1 hour or more to fall asleep, even trying relaxation techniques

What can I do to sleep fast at nights? Often, it takes me like 1 hour or more to fall asleep, even trying relaxation techniques

Stay out of bed: It helps to stay away from the bed until you're already starting to fall asleep. Exercise earlier in the day and push yourself to stay active mentally--learn something. Around bedtime prepare for getting into bed--take care of teeth, locking doors, making lists, etc. But, don't get into bed yet. Instead, sit quietly and read or do a relaxing activity until the "sleep wave" comes. ...Read more
