Anti platelet Rx: We use dual antiplatelet therapy for at least 6 months to minimize stents occluding after placement. Usually either aspirin or plavix (clopidogrel) is continued later if no contraindication to that. The erosive gastritis is a significant problem and the appropriate step(s) in this case need to be considered with risks and benefits to the treatments by those with the most information about the patient. ...Read more

CAD S/P STENT: CAD S/P STENT placement. Highly unusual in a young woman. You need a Hematology consult and full clotting screen. Is rivaroxaban xalerto safe and good drug for preventing stroke in Afib compared to aspirin and plavix (clopidogrel) together in72 yr man with hypertension,s.cr1.56?

Is rivaroxaban xalerto safe and good drug for preventing stroke in Afib compared to aspirin and plavix (clopidogrel) together in72 yr man with hypertension,s.cr1.56?

Xalerto is best: His CHA2DS2-VASc score is 2 (age and presence of hypertension). All studies have concluded that the benefit from anticoagulation significantly exceeds the risks for almost all AF patients with a score of 2 or more. Xalerto will more effectively reduce his risk of stroke and won't increase his risk of bleeding. ...Read more

If someone gets stents during a cardiac catherization, will they be prescribed aspirin, plavix, (clopidogrel) or both? if both do the same thing then why both?

I had stents before 2 years & iam already taking plavix and crestor (rosuvastatin) 20mg ( rousostatin), when can I stop plavix? & is plavix must taking with aspirin?

Check with your doc: Plavix (clopidogrel) duration after a stent is minimum 1 year by guideline recommendation, but individual cases require longer duration. This could be the case for multiple, or extremely long stented segment, bifurcation stenting (fork in the road), stenting in your left main, or in a previous bypass graft. Check with your cardiologist to see what optimal duration is in your particular case. ...Read more

Vit K: The pathway of clotting where vit k works is different from the platelet pathway where Plavix (clopidogrel) and Aspirin work. While not disconnected, usually arterial clotting is more affected by the platelet pathway where Plavix (clopidogrel) and Aspirin work. ...Read more
