Get tested: Sounds like you may have a UTI. Frequently, the symptoms of UTI and STI overlap so it can be hard to differentiate between the two (even for physicians). Urinalysis and/or pelvic exam with evaluation of vaginal/cervical secretions is the sure-fire way to get your answer. See your doctor for testing. Take Care. ...Read more

I have frequent urination throughout the day. It's not a UTI and could be an std. Possibly hiv?

Symptoms of HIV: Frequent urination may very well be a sign of a common sexually transmitted disease. But, it is not a symptom of early HIV infection.

Now, if your sexual activity is deemed to have been high risk then appropriate testing for both syphilis and HIV may be added to the visit. But, with your symptoms testing for gonorrhea and/or chlamydia is wise. ...Read more

I am a 20 year old male. I have been having very frequent urination, but NO PAIN and had unprotected oral sex. I got an STD test but it's a long wait.

Not an STD: No STD causes increased urinary frequency. And oral sex is safe sex -- not completely risk free, but with much lower chance of infection than vaginal or anal sex. You can expect negative STD test results, which will be conclusive. The only likely relationship of your symptoms to the oral sex exposure is anxiety about it. No infection causes this. ...Read more

Lots of Water?: Hi Dorothy,

It was a really good idea to have your urine tested and rule out an infection either in the urinary tract or the genital tract. Frequent urination usually occurs because of the amount of water that we drink or the types of beverages that we drink. You will notice an increase in urination if you drink beverages with caffeine or alcohol.

Thanks for y our question.

Frequent urination, urge to urinate only in urethra.not UTI/STD.at its worst it was a constant pressure pain in urethra.what is wrong?2mnths duration.

Possibly a UTI: A urinary tract infection (UTI) is not an STD. It is an infection of your urethra and urinary tract with bacteria. It can cause symptoms of pressure in your lower pelvis, burning on urinartion, and milky white discharge in the urine. the best option is to go see a doctor and get a urinalysis to evaluate for nitrites and leukocytes. Make sure you catch urine midstream ("clean catch") for the test. ...Read more

Irritable bladder: The symptoms you describe suggest irritation of the lower urinary tract ( bladder, urethra). This maybe due to infection, inflammation or pressure from something pressing on the area. Your doctor will want to rule out infection, pregnancy and growths that could put pressure on the bladder. If these have been ruled out, interstitial cystitis is possible. Your doctor can help sort this out. ...Read more

My only symptoms are frequent urination, urine culture shows not a uti, could it be a std.. Is it possible to have a STD and have no vaginal discharge?

When in doubt, check: Early stage std has no symptoms at all. Vaginal discharge and abnormal urination are not always present in cases of std. If std is suspected, the best approach is to have an examination and test.

A young female like yourself should have std screening once a year, even you don't have symptom. ...Read more

What could be the cause of frequent urination? I don't drink sodas. I drink tea and I go pee at least 6 times during the day and 4-6 times every night

Urinary frequency: Several possibilities. If small amounts with urgency or pain, a urinary tract infection is likely. Possibly overactive bladder. If large aounts of urine, i.e. bladder usually is quite full, then diabetes is probably the most likely possibility. Seriously abnormal kidney function could do it. Can you say if it could it cause frequent urination if i don't shake the dribbles off after i pee?

Can you say if it could it cause frequent urination if i don't shake the dribbles off after i pee?

Post Void Dribbling: Post void dribbling(pvd) results from incomplete contraction of the muscles around the urethra(urine channel). This results in urine that, with movement, can leak out.
This leakage is not an indication of overactive bladder and will not lead to frequency of urination.
With a kegel squeeze leftover urine can be passed. Milking the urethra from behind the scrotum forward can also expel it. ...Read more
