How long before you figure out you have STD after unprotected sex?

How long before you figure out you have STD after unprotected sex?

Depends: This depends on which sti you are talking about. Gonorrhea and chlamydia come on quickly as does herpes. But not all herpes infections cause noticeable symptoms. Hiv, hpv, syphilis and hepatitis often have no symptoms until later stages and take longer to detect in the blood stream. Best to consult with a doctor with experience in stis for proper testing. ...Read more

Can you get an STD from having unprotected sex in the pool?

Can you get an STD from having unprotected sex in the pool?

It's who, not where: It's who you have sex with that matters, not where it happens. Doing it in a pool doesn't either raise or lower STD risk. Assuming this is a new or unknown partner, it's really dumb to be having sex without a condom. ...Read more

If you took a medication for an STD and had unprotected sex with an infected person 2 days after, could you be RE-Infected?

No med kills all: There are at least a dozen diseases than be transmitted sexually including those best known as STD's.Some can be cured with meds and some not. Those that can be cured are not all cured by a single med. If you were treated with the right med for your STD, it may linger long enough to prevent re-infection by same germ for a few days, but unprotected exposure leaves you vulnerable to all the others. ...Read more

How many discharges happen with an STD? I had unprotected sex 2 days ago. Saw a white discharge once and pain in the area and now I'm freaking out.

How many discharges happen with an STD? I had unprotected sex 2 days ago. Saw a white discharge once and pain in the area and now I'm freaking out.

STD is possible: STDs are by far the most common causes of abnormal urethral discharge and painful urination, especially gonorrhea, chlamydia, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). However, once discharge starts it usually continues; a single episode without recurrence is unusual. Two days after exposure is pretty quick and suggests gonorrhea. Even if it now seems to be gone, ee a doctor or your local STD clinic. ...Read more

Can I get std from having unprotected sex even if my partner and I are both virgins? Also I keep getting jock itches. Is there a prevention for it?

Can I get std from having unprotected sex even if my partner and I are both virgins? Also I keep getting jock itches. Is there a prevention for it?

Tinea? Yeast? Other?: It is not possible to have an STD unless one person or the other has had sex with someone else. "Jock itch" is not a term normally used in women, only men. Have you been diagnosed with tinea (same fungus group as jock itch in men)? Yeast (entirelydifferent)? Neither yeast nor tinea is sexually transmitted. Don't assume any diagnosis based only on symptoms; get professional care. ...Read more

Waiting for STD results. Had unprotected sex weeks ago. No discharge, odor, or sores. As I pee very painful tip of penis. Likely kidney stones? ATI?

A few possibilities: "Weeks ago" is too long a delay in symtoms for most STDs. Probably you mean UTI, not ATI. Non-STD urinary tract infections are rare at your age, although possible especially if you had anal sex. Gonorrhea is possible, but usually has prominent pus discharge. Maybe herpes, but usually only with obviously visible blisters/sores. Stone passage may be possible. Hang in there, work with doctor. ...Read more

How can I prevent an STD after I have unprotected sex?

Too late: After sex, is exactly the wrong time to think about pretection from getting an std. The only sure way to not get an std is to not have sex. That includes oral and anal sex which also have risks. Use protection always and have sex with limited partners and have each get tested often to know their status. ...Read more

Can there be a way where we can avoid getting STD even by performing unprotected sex everytime?

Can there be a way where we can avoid getting STD even by performing unprotected sex everytime?

Condoms: The only way to minimize risk is to be in a truly monogamous relationship with a trusted partner who has been previously tested. If you have both been cleared then there is no risk (assuming no cheating). Condoms are effective in preventing STDs passed via fluid transmission like gonorrhea, chlamydia & hiv. Condoms are less effective in skin to skin transmitted STDs like hpv, herpes and syphilis. ...Read more
