Can a vaginal yeast infection be transmitted sexually? And if so, are symptoms the same for males and females? Same treatment ?
Possible but limited: Men can contact a yeast infection and it can irritate locally but since the environment is so different the infection usually does off on its own in a day or so. They dont usually require treatment. Uncircumcised men can have more trouble with an infection but i usually have their partner use the cream and be intimate to treat both parties. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
More women diagnosed: Women 24 and younger, as well as women with risk factors for a sexually transmitted infection (such as new/multiple sexual partners, unprotected sex) should be routinely screened for chlamydia infection. There is no screening recommendation for men. Because of this routine screening of women, more women are diagnosed with chlamydia infection than men. This may not reflect the true incidence rates. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Ureaplasma or viral: Non-specific urethritis (NSU). These organisms are notoriously difficult to identify. Discuss with your Dr., ureaplasma respond to Erythromycin type of antibiotics. How is HIV/Aids contacted? Does an STD test or pap smear test for it? What are the signs and symptoms?
No quick answer: Much too complex to answer here, especiallyin HealthTap's 400 character limit. By unprotected vaginal or anal sex, or intimate blood contact like sharing needles for drug use. It isn't diagnosed by routine STD or pap tests; a special HIV test is necessary. Symptoms too many to list, but often none at all until severe AIDS appears. Why are most std's transferred from your partner? Are they unaware they have an STD or are the symptoms different for men vs women?
Yes: Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the parasite trichomonas vaginalis. The infection usually does not cause symptoms in men and goes away on its own in a few weeks. When one partner is diagnosed, the general recommendation is that both get treated and for prevention purposes no sex or at least use condoms until cured. See: http://goo.Gl/n5ziq. ...Read more

Can you tell me what you suggest if the women has trich and the man has no symptoms does that mean that the man didn't have the std?
I recieved oral from a man, and then within 4 hours later had sex with someone else. I think the oral gave me a yellowish discharge. is it contaious within the 4 hour window? Both people claim they have no symptoms. Is it possible its not an std?
Get tested: It is unlikely that an std would show symptoms in 4 hours, generally it takes days to weeks for them to take hold once you have been inoculated. The discharge if it is an STD came from before the oral sex. As to what the discharge is, get checked. And yes, you probably may have passed it on to the other person you were having sex with if no protection was used. ...Read more
What STDs other than herpes would appear like pimples on your face but have no other symptoms?
Thank you doc. Your the man
I briefly licked a man's shaft and scrotum. Which std's can I catch and will I see symptoms on genitals or mouth first?
Little or no risk: You are at little if any STD risk. Even with the head of the penis in the mouth, oral sex is generally safe, with low risk for all STDs and zero for some, much safer than unprotected vaginal or anal sex. There could in theory be a small risk of herpes or HPV from this exposure, but it would be extremely low. Any symptoms would be oral only; STDs don't travel through the body to unexposed sites. ...Read more
Had unprotected sex. Partner said they were clean but got cold symptoms and sore throat the day after. Taking sudafed. Signs of std?
Not necessarily but: There can be also be silent std's. A person is likely to be more successful in obtaining sex from another if they say they are "clean" how many people would consent to sex if the other person said "oh, by the way, I have a combination of gonorrhea & chlamydia."? I would encourage you to get std testing & to use protection consistently. Take care. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
