Started brith contol pills mid-cycle, when am I protected?

Started brith contol pills mid-cycle, when am I protected?

Depends: It depends on two main factors. One is the type of pill and the other is the stage of your menstrual cycle. Fir combination pills, if you start it with the first 5 days of the start of your menstrual cycle, you should be safe, and would need a secondary protection like condom or a diaphragm if started the pill later. Fir progesterone only pill, you need 48 hrs for those to be effective. Be safe:) ...Read more

Could you tell me what happens if you start birth control pills mid-cycle, during or right after ovulation?

Could you tell me what happens if you start birth control pills mid-cycle, during or right after ovulation?

You can start anytim: You are likely to get more irregular bleeding in the first month of taking the pills, if you start mid-cycle, and (of course) you are not protected during the period you describe (b/c if you ovulated, then there is an egg available to be fertilized, so you need the back up method for the first month after starting the pill).
Regardless of when you start taking it. ...Read more

I am taking 2 weeks short break of my pills. Thus, by next time I start again would be in my mid cycle which myb after I've ovulated. Is it safe?

Not a good idea: Probably better to wait for your next period and start day 1. Note your next period probably will be late-should occur in about 6 weeks.
Use barrier contraception in the mean time. ...Read more

It's Normal: This is a small amount of bleeding at the time of ovulation that occurs when the follicle in the ovary releases the egg. It is harmless and there is nothing you can do except to stop ovulation with a birth control pill. Good luck. ...Read more

I started the contraception pill mid way through or possibly just after I ovulated. Am I still protected after 7 days or shall I wait a cycle?

You should be: Protected 7 days after starting the pill but, in your case, at 16 years old, "should" isn't good enough. Please use a barrier contraceptive for the rest of this cycle. After that, you will receive the full benefit of using oral contraceptive pills. ...Read more

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time) is very normal on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time. If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen then consider using a different birth control method. I was on d pill for 2 weeks but developed bad loose motions bcoz of it n stopped mid month. Is this harmful for my cycles?

Clarify:: If I understand correctly, you were on birth control pills, & they caused loose bowel movements-so you stopped them mid pack. It isn't 'harmful' but stopping them mid pack should cause the withdrawal bleed/period to start w/in a week of stopping them, and you may experience some irregular bleeding until your nl cycling resumes. Loose stools is not a common rxn to ocps. ...Read more

Probably not: If you have been taking your pills as directed then you are unlikely to be pregnant. If you are worried then take a home pregnancy test. You may be having some breakthrough of your bodies normal cycle through the birth control and may need a pill with a higher estrogen content. Breakthrough: This sounds like a hormone imbalance or breakthrough bleeding. Sometimes this occurs because estrogen and Progesterone (your 2 female hormones produced in ovary) are not in the right balance to each other. Sometimes it's due to pituitary or thyroid issues. And lasly, sometimes due to weight (too thin/heavy). If bothers you can consider birth control pills to help regulate. Best of luck. ...Read more

Contraception: Pill and condom are two different forms of contraception.
