Standing Fast Over Cause Copd Panic Attack Catch Breath
I don't have racing heart or hyperventilation during my panic attacks. Only uncomfy chest, pvcs, dizzy & short of breath. Cardiac r/o. Possible?
Panic can be unique: First, i hope an actual medical condition has been ruled out through history/testing/labs. Second, your symptoms sure sound like panic attacks so consider using Klonopin instead of xanax which will be harder to stop. Paxil (paroxetine) works best when combined with therapy like cbt to help you feel less anxious. ...Read more
COPD may include chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or both. Chronic bronchitis is the production of increased mucus caused by inflammation. Why can standing up fast or bending over cause a sudden COPD panic attack in which I can't catch my breath?
Increased pressure: Bending causes increased pressure in the abdomen which is in turn transmitted to the lungs causing shortness of breath. Lungs with diminished reserves like in COPD are unable to adjust to that pressure increase. The standing up part is a different story. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why willstanding up fast or bending over cause a sudden COPD panic attack in which i can't catch my breath?
Two Answers: Standing up too fast causes the blood to stay in the lower parts of the body, dropping blood pressure to the brain. Dehydration makes it worse as do certain drugs. This is called orthostatic hypotension. Bending over with COPD changes the way blood and oxygen are exchanged in the lungs, like lying flat on one's back. That is called orthopnea. Breathing improves by propping up with pillows. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Usually none: In otherwise young healthy individuals (no heart disease) the increased heart rate that can occur during an asthma attack or be related to treating an asthma attack (albuterol inhaler), will resolve on its own and not lead to heart problems. If the heartbeat, is irregular (skipping beats), associated with palpitations or greater than 180 beats per minutes, a heart doctor should be involved. ...Read more

Confusing: I know you're limited in the number of characters you can type, but your question is very confusing to me. (maybe it's my american english?) :) for your palpitations: there are many causes/kinds. You need a 24 hour holter recording to see what's actually happening. ...Read more

There are good treatments available for panic disorder. In my practice, i try and control a patient's panic/anxiety symptoms without the use of benzodiazapines like xanax, (alprazolam) as they can be habit forming. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
