How many hours before gastroscopy/colonoscopy do I have to stop eating ? Say I have it at 3pm, can I eat non solid food for breakfast ?
Had a colonoscopy today and was told to avoid driving until after breakfast tomorrow am. Reason-impaired judgement. Is this really necessary?

Yes: Regardless of your smoking history, you should have got your first screening colo as soon as you turned 50. Any liquid that you can see through (clear liquids) is allowed--tea, black coffee, water, juces without pulp, broths, popsicles, hard candy (ie, jolly ranchers). Talk with the doctor: At your age it is unusual to have a colonoscopy ordered. The main risk from the ibuprofen is if they have to do a biopsy or if there were a complication extra bleeding could be expected.
