What is the survival rate for liver cancer?

What is the survival rate for liver cancer?

Liver cancer: It really depends on the extent of liver involvement. If the disease involved one live love that can be successfully and completely resected then survival chances improve. For some patients a liver transplant may be the answer. As for most cancers survival depends on a complete resection with negative margins. ...Read more

What can I do if my mom has stage 4 liver cancer she's 72 years old. She start treatment next week. What is the survival rate?

What can I do if my mom has stage 4 liver cancer she's 72 years old. She start treatment next week. What is the survival rate?

Difficult to say: If this is liver cancer and not another cancer that has spread to the liver, it is not operable at this point which would be the only way to cure the disease. Liver transplants have been used in this case but again not in stage IV cancer. The survival rate will depend on how well the patient responds to the therapy. Some of the new drugs have improved survival significantly. ...Read more

How long can you survive stage 4 liver cancer?

3-6 months: Though survival has been improving in liver cancer over the past decade, the numbers are still not encouraging. How to get diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer?

Depends: Stage IV hepatocellular cancer is defined by a tumor that originates in the liver and spreads to distant sites like the lung or other organs. How long you can live with stage 4 liver cancer?

How long you can live with stage 4 liver cancer?

Depends: Most "liver cancers" are not from the liver but metastatic from other places. The prognosis will vary depending on the source and aggressiveness of the primary cancer. Also depends on the general health, the number of lesions, and how aggressive is the treatment given. A precious few patients can be potentially cured under the right circumstances and with the right therapy. Most, sadly, will not. ...Read more

Husbnd has stg 4 cirrosis liver cncer, I know the cirrosis is stage 4 but confused about how severe (what stage) liver cancer is?

Hard to say: Typical staging of cirrhosis is by a, b, c and not numbers. There might be another scale that they are using. Liver cancer is associated with cirrhosis. Stages are 1-4.
I think that the best way to know is to clarify with the GI doctors to get a clear idea. ...Read more

My husband was told he has stage 4 cirrhosis / liver cancer. Does that mean the cirrosis is stage 4 or the liver cancer is stage 4?

Cirrhosis vs cancer: Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver. People with cirrhosis are at risk for liver cancer. it is certainly possible that he has both, though we wouldn't use 'stage 4' for liver cancer but woudl instead say that someone has metastasis. did he have a biopsy? The 'stage 4' is much more likley to refer to degree of scarring, meaning cirrhosis. If he has no liver cancer now, he needs to be screened > ...Read more

What is the difference between liver cancer & cirrhosis of the liver? I have been diagnosed with primary biliary ciffhosis stage 4.

Different problems: Cirrhosis is a complex scarring of the liver that results in disruption of both the liver cells, which must accomplish a large number of tasks, and the flow of the "rivers" in the liver that help accomplish that, by putting scars across them. The cells inside these inflamed and scarred areas are more prone to mutate and become cancerous, so that cirrhosis may lead to cancer of the liver. Good luck. ...Read more
