Stage Iv Cancer Prognosis
I'm very sorry: I'm very sorry because likely either you or an individual you care about is affected by this cancer. No physician has a crystal ball, but tumor type, size, and patient's health condition all play a role. Some non-small cell lung cancers may have genetic mutations (EGFR, Alk, Ros) that may be sensitive to "targeted therapies" which may prolong, but are unlikely to cure the disease. Good luck! ...Read more

Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more

Is being diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and being a diagnosed with stage 2 but having a recurrence later the same in terms if prognosis ?
Prognosis is stage: It is stage-dependent. Once the Cancer has relapsed the prognosis is bad as the disease is typically fatal. As long as it remains stage-2, there is hope for a better prognosis as long as the disease is not visibly present. In one individual the prognosis and outcome is ultimately same although numerically speaking survival is longer as long as the Cancer has not shown up in the tests. ...Read more

Also remember that quality is usually better than quantity in terms of life expectancy. God bless you and good luck. ...Read more
In general, not good: Non small cell is usually not as aggressive as small cell, but chemotherapy is not as effective. A lot depends on the functional status of your dad, and where the cancer has spread. Stage 4 implies it has spread somewhere. 5 year survival rates are usually less than 5%. Sorry. ...Read more

My friend diagnosed stage 4 inoperablel lung cancer.6 rounds of chemo shrunk tumor but tumors in adrenals grew. She was diagnosed in march.Prognosis?
Cosider localtherapy: I think the lung cancer can metastasize to the adrenal gland either by the lymphatic or the hematogenous route. In case of metastasis by the lymphatic route, it can be a solitary metastasis, and the prognosis can be relatively better. If the patient is young and in good performance status, aggressive treatment(stereotactic radiotherapy or even removal) can be considered in very selected case. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Stage 4 gullet cancer. Mets to liver , lungs. I have 6 courses of eox chemo treatments What is my realistic prognosis truely please?
See below. Also ask: Your oncologist is the person you should ask this question. In fact it was something to have brought up as you began and went through your chemotherapy. Since you do not seem to have had a satisfactory answer, i can shed some light although at the risk of upsetting someone or the other. Stage 4 cancers can be treated, sometimes very successfully yet they carry a heavy risk of coming back again. ...Read more

My friend was diagnosed in march with stage 4 inoperable lung cancer.6 tounds of aggressive chemo shrunk lung tumor but now in both adrenals.Prognosis?
Hard to say: Lung cancer often spreads to the adrenal glands, but adrenal tumors are often benign. The best predictor of how well your friend will do is how quickly the tumor is growing. If he truly had nothing there in march and now, despite chemotherapy, has large adrenal tumors growing that is not a good sign. If, however, your frined has had adrenal tumors all along, then the prognosis is much better. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
