What is the life expectency for a person with stage 4 throat cancer who is refusing treatment?

What is the life expectency for a person with stage 4 throat cancer who is refusing treatment?

Not good : Stage 4 any cancer is not good, some better than others. With head and neck cancers though unlike some others, cure is possible with aggressive mutimodality treatment. Usually without any treatment the tumor grows locally, cause local symptoms and metastasize to lymph nodes and distant organs. Consider at least palliative treatment, it can improve quality of life for some time. 6-24 months range. ...Read more

Throat cancer life expectancy with treatment?

Throat cancer life expectancy with treatment?

Depends: It depends on what kind of throat cancer, the stage of the cancer, the hpv status if this is a mouth cancer, whether you are a smoker or not, what kind of therapy did you receive etc. The earlier the stage the better your life expectancy would be. The prognosis of hpv + associated mouth cancer , non smoker-would be better than hpv negative mouth cancer who smokes and drink alcohol. D/w with md. ...Read more

My husband has stage 4 throat cancer. They have found a large mass in his lung, and a smaller one in his stomach. What are his survival chances ?

Need further details: Patients with head and neck cancer have often concomitant new diagnosis of lung cancer; in certain clinical situations it may be important to differentiate if the lung lesions are new cancer vs. Spread of the throat cancer; discuss with your treating oncologist; in general if throat cancer has spread to multiple organs the treatments are palliative (not curative);. ...Read more

My friend says he has stage one in throat cancer and stage 3 in stomach cancer. He refuses to get treatment. What imight be life expectancy.?

Llkely 20% 5yr life.: The throat cancer may have a decent outlook, but an advanced stomach cancer where the disease has likely spread to the lymph nodes and is one step away from distant metastases has about a 20% 5 year survival at best. This is if the tumor is able to be resected. It is his choice, but it might be good for him to see his doctor to at least find out what can be done to make him comfortable. ...Read more

Depends: That depends on how advanced it is locally and if it has spread to other organs like the lungs. Also depends on overall health of the person. If this question refers to you, then please consider going to a cancer center that has experience in treating head and neck cancers (to find out if it is really inoperable and to hear about all treatment options and clinical trials). ...Read more

Are stage 0 or 1 throat cancer can be easily detected with largynscopy?

No: excluding tonsillar carcinoma, those lesions of the throat are usually squamous Ca arising in mucosa of the throat and the rare minor salivary tumors that are occasionally seen. Stage 0 or insitu can only be detected by histologic exam where atypia is seen in the cellular pattern. The stage I Ca' may occasionally have slight mucosal ulceration but most often have to be palpated if possible ...Read more

What's the first stage of throat cancer?

Different features: The earliest presentation of throat cancer is leukoplakia or a whitened area representing in situ squamous cancer. Other times one sees an early superficial ulceration that doesn't heal.
