Cancer (Definition)

Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Stage 4? Stomach cancer. Is chemotherapy advisable with 33 kgs weight, age 66, height5.3 please advise

Stage 4? Stomach cancer. Is chemotherapy advisable with 33 kgs weight, age 66, height5.3 please advise

Stomach cancer: Chemotherapy is the mainstay therapy for stage IV stomach cancer. Other option will be only palliative care/hospice if one does not want to get active therapy. Whether one is a good candidate or not for chemo will depend on how good is the overall situation- can the person take care oneself? How much assistant she/he needs for daily activity etc? Discuss further with the oncologist re-tx options.

Survival rate of stomach cancer stage 4?

Survival rate of stomach cancer stage 4?

4-18 months: Stage 4 stomach (gastric) cancer means the cancer has spread or metastasized to sites far from the stomach. Unfortunately, the prognosis is poor. The median range of survival for stage 4 gastric cancer is 4 - 18 months. Experimental treatment options may be available depending upon your locale.

What is the lifespan with stage IV stomach cancer?

What is the lifespan with stage IV stomach cancer?

Short: Unfortunately stage IV stomach cancer does not have good prognosis. It is not feasible to give a time line or the amount of time a patient may have, as there are wide variations in the biology of tumors.

Is there a lot of pain in stage IV stomach cancer?

Is there a lot of pain in stage IV stomach cancer?

Can be but need not: Be. Any advanced malignancy may cause pain, however effective pain medications are available and control of pain is one of the goals of palliative care. The patient may wish to seek hospice care at home or in an in-patient facility.

How long can you have to have gastritis for to be at serious risk for stomach cancer?

How long can you have to have gastritis for to be at serious risk for stomach cancer?

No relation: Gastritis is not a precancerous disease. Patients with gastric cancer have also gastritis but no because the gastritis was the cause of the cancer. Present time is not recommended gastroscopy as a follow up study for patients with gastritis.

How bad is stage 3 stomach cancer? What are the chances of survival and or how long can one live?

How bad is stage 3 stomach cancer? What are the chances of survival and or how long can one live?

Can be cured.: Stage iii stomach cancer can potentially be cured with aggressive treatment that usually includes surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. It is difficult to give exact numbers for survival without knowing more details of tumor size, number of lymph nodes involved, etc.

How long can I survive with undiagnosed possible stomach cancer?

How long can I survive with undiagnosed possible stomach cancer?

Unknown: Considering your condition is "undiagnosed" you may not even have stomach cancer. It could be an ulcer, gastric reflux, ulcerative colitis, or Chron's Disease, to name a few other options. These are all treatable. Rather than scare yourself into thinking the worst, have a medical exam and get treated for the actual problem.

Please tell me how long it takes for to treat mild stomach cancer?

Please tell me how long it takes for to treat mild stomach cancer?

No mild gastric canc: There is not such thing as "mild gastric cancer", that name does not mean anything. The classification of cancer is done with the system tnm, this system is done when the patient has an operation for the cancer and the pathologist will obtain the information for the classification and postoperative treatment. T is for tumor; n is for regional lymph node and m for distant metastasis.

How long can someone live with untreated colon or stomach cancer?

Many months: These are widely different cancers with differing life expectancies. Life expectancy also depends upon the stage of the cancer at time of diagnosis. At advanced stages, life expectancy is short and measured in weeks or months. In early stages, life expectancy could reach as long as a year or more. More information regarding the type and stage would be needed to give you the best answer.

I have been consuming a lot of salt from a very long time. I am 23 years old. Can I have stomach cancer at this age due to high salt consumption? I

Not yet...: You are likely too young to have stomach cancer, but high salt intake has been linked to stomach cancer, so you may want to think about cutting down. High salt intake also raises your blood pressure and that has its own major health concerns.

How long can you have symptomatic h.pylori before it turns into stomach cancer?

How long can you have symptomatic h.pylori before it turns into stomach cancer?

Why do you ask?: The large majority of folks with this infection never get cancer from it. It's moot. If you are symptomatic, get treated. If someone has told you not to do this, they are wrong. Use "natural healing" (there are a bunch of claims) only as an adjunct. Best wishes.

25yrs scared from stomach cancer burning all over my stomach went to dr and gave smz/tmp & omeprazole how long for it to be effective?! still burning

Low odd for a 25-yo: Once you have started out evaluation and treatment, it would be most logical to closely connect with your treating doctor about your response to the care so s/he may reassess your conditions and adjust the care options; if still in vain, upgrade the evaluation and care as needed, since there is no magic in medicine & life, if any, that is applying current available knowledge, skill, technology, . .

Female, 47, stomach cancer to liver. She lost about 5-7 kg, vomited lately (the last 6 mounths)Is it curable or not? If not how long is she going to live?

Female, 47, stomach cancer to liver. She lost about 5-7 kg, vomited lately (the last 6 mounths)Is it curable or not? If not how long is she going to live?

I'm sorry: It is not considered curable at this point but can be managed to try and maximize quality of life. Time left depends on many factors. If you can, seeing an oncologist will help clarify the issues. Consider a hospice service, if available as this can benefit the patient greatly, and help the entire family.
