Stage 4 Prostrate Cancer
Not good, but: Each person is unique. Discss this question w/ the doctors involved in treatment. It's not good, but there are certainly cases that will do better than others. All life ends. He is in stage 4 prostrate cancer with extreme pain especially around the pelvic area. Symptomatic treatment is on. Is this normal?
Symptomatic yes,: for a ~90 year old to be on symptom treatment only for stage 4 prostate CA. Sometimes this is seen as giving up, but think... if I am 90+ and a treatment will cause a year or years of being uncomfortable much less suffering to live another 5-10 years versus living a few more years in comfort, doing good symptom treatment save lives no different than the hero in the ER by saving quality at the end ...Read more
Quite variable: Stage IV cancer generally means that the cancer has spread from its organ of origin to other organs. How long you have to live depends on where the cancer originated. What is the best way to get nutrition into someone (the best foods or types of foods) with stage 4 cancer with very little appetite?

Others can be fatal over a period of few months. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my wife has survived stage 4 cancer is there any organization that will do something for her?
Need more info: First of all, her doctor is a good source of information. The American Cancer Society has a great website with resources, help, and support. Without knowing more about what kind of cancer she had, how long ago, what kind of treatment she was given, and what her most recent exams and scans show, it's hard to know what advice to give you. I also am not sure what "something" you want done for her? ...Read more
Hard to Know: Many healthy people get cancer. Stage IV just means that the cancer has spread around the body away from where it started (metastases). Some cancers spread around the body very early and the tumor where it started might be small and asymptomatic by the time that the metastases are detected. Fast growing cancers probably start 2-6 mo before diagnosis. Slow ones probably take a few years. ...Read more
