How bad is stage 4 liver cirrhosis and what is the life expectancy?

Stage 4=cirrhosis: The prognosis of cirrhosis is highly variable since it is influenced by a number of factors, including etiology, severity, presence of complications, and comorbid diseases. Scoring systems are available to give you an idea of life expectancy but are far from exact. You should discuss this with your doctor. ...Read more

What would the life expectancy of a patient with alcoholic liver cirrhosis be?

Depends: People with cirrhosis can live many years, but once they start developing complication of ascites (fluid build up in belly), confusion (hepatic encephalopathy), varices (vomiting blood) or liver cancer, the life expectancy is much less. The way to increase your life expectancy is to have a liver doctor help manage the above, and to stop drinking alcohol as you can possibly heal your liver. ...Read more

Age 58, non-alcoholic. Have liver cirrhosis due to Portal Hypertensive. Still have 40% liver working. It can be stable always or what is life expectancy?

Take care ofyourself: If you already have portal hypertension as a complication of your liver disease, you probably have had cirrhosis for awhile. There is no "40% working" - best markers are those of synthetic function. Get the underlying cause treated if possible (? HCV), stay as healthy as you can. But no, unlikely to remain 'stable always'. ...Read more

I need life expectancy for liver cirrhosis. He has hep c with an enlarged liver and fluid around it.

Difficult to say: With the approval of the latest round of hep C medicines, hep C has become a potentially treatable illness, sometimes even in the face of known cirrhosis. He needs to see a good hepatologist ASAP. In the meantime, no alcohol, tylenol, (acetaminophen) or shellfish. Good luck. ...Read more

Depends: How is your liver function? If your docs are suggesting waiting and not going for SIM/SOF now, then things can't be too dire. Make sure you get regular screening for liver cancer and esophageal varices. If the HCV gets taken care of, may or may not need a transplant down the line. ...Read more

Was is the life expectancy of a Woman with NASH cirrhosis recently diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer exhibiting grade 3 hepatic encephalopathy.

Poor prognosis: Regretfully, Stage 4 disease is associated with spread of the liver cancer to minimally nearby lymph nodes, and probably through into blood vessels. The treatment is typically chemotherapy, with/without embolization. The presence of an encephalopathic clinical picture also portends to a guarded at best prognosis. Please consult with a specialist care team to determine therapeutic options. ...Read more

Can you tell me about life of patients with ascites and liver cirrhosis of grade iv?
