Stage 1 Cirrhosis Life Expectancy
Not good.: When a liver with cirrhosis is having trouble doing it's job, it's called end-stage liver disease. This means that the liver is beginning to fail. Generally, patient in this setting will die or need transplant within a few years. Having cirrhosis, however, is not the same as end stage liver disease. Only when the liver starts to fail do we call it end stage. ...Read more

What is the average life expectancy for a type 1 diabetic (has had diabetes for 35 + yrs) with end stage renal disease, and is on dialysis?
Depends: Any answer that includes a definite number would be questionable from my point of view; as it would probably not consider the subpopulations' future attitude and compliance, not to mention current overall health status/genetic of this "cohort". Meaning, life expectancy at this point may vary wildly for many reasons. It would be more useful to just optimize treatment in a multidisciplinary fashion. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Maybe: This is longer than one would expect, however essentially nothing is truly "impossible." but this would be an outlier, longer than expected. ...Read more
Can a patient stage 1 papillary thyroid cancer with BRAF mutation positive live more than 20 years ( she is 51 years old) ? Thank you very much!
Yes: Papillary thyroid cancer is very common and some people do not even know they have it as small tumors may be found on autopsy when they die of something else. Please discuss with your oncologist. ...Read more

How effective is stenting for patient with 4th stage esophagus cancer at distal esophagus.. My uncle condition after stenting got worsen...
Stenting can help: I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. Stenting is usually done to open the esophagus when the cancer makes it hard to get food through. This can be helpful at enabling people to continue eating. However, stenting is not a curative treatment for stage IV cancer. Systemic treatment, such as chemotherapy, is often used to address the disease itself. His worse condition may not be related to the stent. ...Read more

For triple negative breast cancer, these survival rates are quite excellent. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Not usually: It really depends on the degree of renal impairment. Most people with moderate chronic kidney disease do not even realize they have the disease! its often not until renal function had dropped below 30% and often lower than that, that you can see side effects. The side effects (anemia, high potassium, high phosphorus) are what cause most of the life threatening issues. ...Read more

Aunt kidney problem creatinine 17. Kidney size normal dr. Says chances of revival ofkidney function. Biopsy sent. Passes urine. Can kidney revive age60?
Creatinine of 17?: Are you sure that your aunt's creatinine (c) is 17, not 1.7? If her c is 17, she should be on dialysis. A biopsy would not be done in someone that high a c. If the c is 1.7, it seems that she had a glomerulonephritis, the cause of which needs to be determined for a diagnosis and prognosis. The best way to get more information about your aunt is to call the doctor who ordered the renal biopsy. ...Read more
Can stage 1a endometrial cancer (removed) spread to mediastinal, bilateral hilar and virchow's node w/o infiltrating another organ?
Yes but: It could possibly spread to local lymph node but the chances are very low. The lymph nodes that are in thoracic cavity are even less likely to contain metastatic tumor from a stage 1a endometrial cancer, especially if it's a garden variety low grade lesion. In fact, long term survival is very good, like 95%. The other 5% may represent very high grade tumors. ...Read more
