Chest pain: It seems more like a costochondritis, but I am a little confused as to the location. This occurs usually about the 4th-6th costochondral junction about 2 inches from the sternum. Gas bubble/muscle: If it is just going on for a day, and you have not any had any contact injury, the most likely cause is something irritating you right diaphragm, which is the largest muscle of the body separating your chest from ur abdomen. Any irritation of the diaphragm or the lower lining of the lung (pleura) may cause that sharp pain. Try antacid/anti-gas otc product for a couple days, it will like resolve. ...Read more

Costochondritis: If you have a definite tender area at the rib and sternum junction,apply warm applications,pat dry and apply ligament like bengay. Avoid stressing the rib cage from stretching,lifting,etc. While on prednisone you can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) but you should not take nsaids like Aleve which I found more effective than oral prednisone. Injection of lidocaine and steroids into the area may help. ?Rheumatologist ...Read more
