I have had a quick, sharp, stabbing pain on the right side of my head above and behind my right ear all day. It woke me up this morning.?
Anytime pain wakes you from sleep it should not be ignored. Your pain sounds vascular in nature however the stabbing nature and waking you from sleep could suggest something more serious (aneurysm). How often does this happen?

Get evaluated: I would highly recommend going and getting evaluated with imaging to rule out a brain bleed with or without skull fracture. Radiculopathy: Pain that radiates down the arm can reflect a cervical radiculopathy (shooting pains due to a pinched nerve in the cervical spine). I'm not sure what to make of the association with breathing, although conceivably a pancoast tumor (a tumor a the top of the lungs) could cause the constellation of symptoms you describe. Probable node: Could be a lymph node or salivary gland tumor pushing the ear forward. If there is fever, tenderness pain and swelling behind the ear, hearing loss, ear drainage I would be concerned about infection in the mastoid bone which needs urgent assessment.
