Its pretty safe: It's used for depression, social anxiety, panic attacks, ocd but not so much for generalized anxiety. 10mg is lowest pill but it comes in liquid form or you can dissolve it in juice and start with tongue wetting for very sensitive patients. Hope this help! ...Read more

Psychotropic meds: There is no one "best " medication for this purpose. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor class is good for this. I personally like Lexapro (escitalopram) because of it's relatively mild side effect profile but others are equally effective. See that you are taking diazepam.
