I : I think it's time for a second opinion. You're incredibly young to have all this going on in your foot & ankle, and i would also get an MRI to see exactly where the tears and damage is. I would strongly discourage you from any "exploratory surgery" in an effort to "fix" what's wrong. I would get an accurate diagnosis first. I'm also concerned about those cortisone injections you were getting for a stress fracture. I've never heard of giving cortisone for a stress fracture. In fact, quite the contrary, steroids tend to delay healing of fractures, and they come with the risk of tendon rupture, which you apparently had. Please get a second opinion before proceeding any further. Preferably with either a foot & ankle orthopedist or a podiatrist certified in foot & ankle surgery by the american board of podiatric surgery. Good luck! ...Read more

Follow up.: Muscle strains usually shouldn't last more than 2 weeks. If they do further workup with imaging that includes x-rays, MRIs, can help. Orthopedic surgeon, and physical therapy options are also available. Most commonly after trauma, arthritis is usually a complication that is chronic in nature. X-rays can usually identify this cause. ...Read more

Depends: If you are improving the tendon injury was probably mild and is healing. If you are not getting better after 3 months the tendon injury may be more severe. This still doesn't necessarily mean you need an MRI but may indicate more specific care of the injured area is required. ...Read more

Been sitting for weeks and limping around because of an ankle sprain. Now, I have lower back pain when i sit, stand or walk. Did i strain my lower back muscles?

Ankle needs care: You have probably done more than just strain your back muscles with the back condition in view of the neck condition you describe. The limping makes the distribution of pressure on your back and its' nerves uneven and this can aggravate a pre existing disc and/or back arthritic problem. A major ankle sprain should be tapped and not weight bare initially. Have your ankle seen by an orthopedist. ...Read more
