I have a grade 3 ankle sprain hurt it a month ago and now my hole foot is freezing cold...what should I do?
Freezing is to mean turning liquid into solid form by lowering the temperature. Water begins to freeze at 32 degree f or 0 degree celsius. Freezing reduces the movement of the substance/object--solid. Also commonly used in daily communication--police says to a perpetraitor "freeze" and hopefully the bad boy/girl stays solid/still (just for fun :-)). Have ...Read more

I've had my leg in a splint for a week following a sprained ankle, it was removed today, now my lower leg/foot is cold to the touch, what would cau?
Concerned doctor: Are there any other symptoms such as redness, sweating, altered sensations? There's always a concern about regional pain syndrome in setting of trauma. Could just be due to the resolving edema and swelling from the sprain. Keep it elevated and try to move the ankle to prevent stiffness. Stay off it as much as possible. ...Read more

See a specialist: You don't mention having it properly examined. In addition to a full examination, proper diagnostic testing including X-rays and perhaps an MRI will be useful. Must be evaluated.: A bad ankle sprain can cause serious ligament damage. This can lead to chronic problems such as instability or frequent re-spraining of the ankle. You need to be seen by a physician for proper evaluation. X-rays, and MRI are most likely indicated. You might only need some rest and physical therapy, but you also may need surgery for optimal recovery. Make an appointment. ...Read more

Sprained ankle almost two weeks ago. When can I put my full weight on that foot again? Should I wait until all swelling & pain is gone before doing so
Progress as tolerate: Unless it was a massive tear of your tendon/ligament, you should do weight bearing as tolerated. Don't wait till it's all gone. If you can put weight without excessive pain, then start walking on it carefully. If it hurts alot with normal weighbearing, you might want to use a crutch/cane so you can do partial weightbearing. ...Read more
After an acute ankle sprain the rule is price. Protection, rest, ice, compression and elevation. This will help to reduce the swelling, but you have to be proactive and consistent.

Ankle sprain, pain gets worse at night when I lie down and I always wake up in the night after I've moved my foot in an awkward position, help please?
Keep free & elevate: Staying in a position for a prolonged period can cause a sprained ankle to feel stiff and aggravate pain. 11weeks after an ankle sprain been going to pt and for the past 2 weeks I've been having numbness in my foot I feel it the most when laying down. What is the possible cause?
Scarring on nerve: The fact that there is numbness described leads me to believe that there is nerve compressed. After 11 weeks from an ankle sprain, pain should have subsided unless as part of the healing ligament, scar tissue formed and adhesions may have developed and are now compressing the adjacent nerve. Get your ankle examined properly. An mri/ct would probably be best to examine the soft tissue. ...Read more
