Spotting Day 17 Of Cycle
I have a 30-day cycle. Ovulation days 12-16. On day 17 of cycle (today)had tiny amount of brown mucus spotting and 1 smear of red blood. Why is this?
When in doubt: Just check pregnancy test in 2 weeks and repeat if negative in 1 week. And if you are still not bleeding normally and first pregnancy test was negative, check it again in 1 week. Try to remember if the last time you had unprotected intercourse was also near your last ovulation date. Maybe: Best test for ovulation is a blood Progesterone level of > 3 ng/ml. Other than pregnancy (which is proof positive) the other tests are less specific. I think that bbts are kinda cruel so rarely suggest that my patients do them. Opks have been shown to only increase patient anxiety and not improve chance of pregnancy. Spotting: Can mean a lot of things. Unfortunately, blood can come from a number of different sites including hemorrhoids, from the urine, from the cervix or from the uterus. Therefore if it persists can be a need for evaluation. If it is from the uterus it may be a variation in the hormone levels, polyp or fibroid in the uterus. ...Read more

Your hormones: Are likely in flux for whatever reason, and you would need to be patient to see if things would settle down. Maybe: Unfortunately it is too early to be able to tell for sure. This could be associated with ovulation but is probably a little early for implantation. Ovulation: The shift or hormones at ovulation can cause spotting. The spotting is not necessarily associated with conception but if you had unprotected sex around the time of ovulation spotting does not rule out conception.
