Spotting After Failed Ivf
I'm having spotting after a failed IVF cycle, any chance that it was late implantation or am I just delusional?
In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology. Ivf is a procedure used to treat fertility problems and assist with the conception of a child. During ivf mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. A few days later, the fertilized egg (embryo) or eggs are implanted into the uterus. One cycle of in vitro fertilization ...Read more
No: That does not usually happen. Once and a while it an signify a polyp in the uterus. It is possible that if you did not respond well the uterine lining did not grow and was thin. Or it can happen when your hormones go up and then drop and the lining of the uterus sheds a bit. Sometimes it can occur for no reason. But it is not common. ...Read more
Several things: Brown spotting after ivf could indicate a slightly traumatic embryo transfer, implantation bleeding, a viable cervix that bleeds easy, a possible early miscarriage; or if you are on Crinone (progesterone gel) Progesterone support, there is a increased risk of early bleeding that fortunately may not be related to a miscarriage. Good luck. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Ivf fresh Transfer on 12/15 and 1st beta was 490 on 12/26. I've had brownish spotting on & off with back pain and mild cramps for a few days. Normal?
Repeat the BHCG: Since this was an IVF transfer you are probably already following closely with a doctor. Your doctor will want to repeat the BHCG to confirm a normal rise and then will schedule a sonogram to confirm pregnancy. Right now you will have to wait as it is too early to draw any conclusions ...Read more

I have been spotting for 2 months in between periods after a failed IVF cycle. I have a small cyst. Could it be the cause of the bleeding.
Day 3 IVF transfer, it is now day 12 & I have no bleeding or spotting. I took a hpt which read positive. Can progesterone give a hot a positive read?
No. ..: Progesterone does not affect a urine or blood pregnancy test. There is a small chance of the HCG trigger shot before your retrieval still giving you a positive, but it's more likely that you're really pregnant. As you're 9 days post transfer talk to your clinic to arrange a blood pregnancy test. Best wishes! ...Read more

I'd IVF 2 months ago with -ve result. A month after, I got my mens. This current month, I had spotting twice in 1 week gap. Is it pregnancy?
Take a test!: Over the counter pregnancy tests are very accurate. So start there. If your test is negative, then I would see your Fertility Doc for an ultrasound to make sure that you haven't developed a cyst or a polyp. It's probably just your hormones getting normalized, but sometimes the fertility medications can stimulate things to grow that weren't there before. Good luck! ...Read more

Had a negative pregnancy result after and IVF and still no spotting or period, what could be responsible, or is the blood test wrong?
Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

I m 5wk pregnant IVF &had slight spotting yesterday. Taking gestone & crinone (progesterone gel) as progestrone is 14.3 only. Is it normal to have spotting?
Maybe: Generally Progesterone levels should be very high in early pregnancy and over 100 is not uncommon. With twins it should be higher. The fact that it is 9.1 is probably not a good sign and may suggest that you are miscarrying. The best way to tell what is happening is to get an ultrasound. Good luck. ...Read more
I had ivf, had 2 eggs implanted successfully, 2 days after period day blood test was negative. Feeling cramps, nausea, white spotting. Am I pregnant?

40y/o hx of CRC, PCOS, IVF, HNPCC-. Cyclic heavy bleeding (~3day clots) since mense returned 6mo ago after stopping breastfeeding. Spotting & dark bloody mucus b/w periods. Shortened cycle length & prolonged (12d+) bleeding. FSH 10.3. Is it normal?
Short cycle/bleeding: At 40, and with an FSH of 10.3, the ovaries are requiring almost a menopausal level of FSH to ovulate a mature egg, which also creates a much higher level of estrogen, making the lining of the uterus thicken, which causes heavier periods. The cycle is shortened because you are ovulating at day 7-8 instead of day 14 or 15, so your periods will occur at day 21 or so. ...Read more
