Since you were on oral contraceptives you were used to the induced hormonal withdrawal bleeding that was a "period" which was short. An ovulatory menstrual cycle lasts 3 to 6 days normally because the endometrium is much thicker then the thin one of the pill. If this pattern continues x 3 months see a GYN MD. ...Read more

No worries: Birth control pills (BCPs) have higher progesterone effect than estrogen. Not only do they prevent women from ovulating but they also prevent the uterine lining from building. Many women will experience irregular bleeding (#1 reason for discontinuing BCPs) for the first 2-3 month. It takes time for the body to adjust to the hormones. The low estrogen pills (20mcg) definitely have irregular bleed ...Read more

On birth control never missed a whole day only a few hours one day last month. Started spotting a week before my period. Brown during my period. Help!

See details: Missing a pill by a few hours does not usually cause abnormal bleeding but it can happen. This might affect the appearance of your usual menses. If your menses are significantly lighter or shorter, I would suggest you verify that you are not pregnant. It is unlikely but possible. If the test is negative, continue your pills in the usual manner. If the bleeding occurs with the next pack, see your gynecologist. I am assuming that you are having no other symptoms. If you are, see your GYN now. ...Read more
