It is normal to have spotting and cramps days after embryo transfer?

It is normal to have spotting and cramps days after embryo transfer?

It depends: If the transfer was difficult, a tenaculum needed, or if there was a wide ectropion of the cervix bleeding could have been stirred up with the procedure. Sometimes we see bleeding/ spotting with vaginal Progesterone use. The cramping may be due to other causes such as ovarian enlargement and not of uterine etiology. I would recommed calling your ivf program to discuss with them. ...Read more

Embryo Transfer (Definition)

Embryo transfer (also et, set. Fet, etc) refers to placing one or more human embryo (s) (multi-cell or blastocyst) into the uterus of a woman trying to become pregnant. Et is the final step in an ivf cycle, and is done in some other circumstances as well. It is extremely safe, mostly comfortable, and usually not technically difficult. Experts agree on its importance, but ...Read more

Four days after embryo transfer the estrogen level is 950. Is this normal?

Four days after embryo transfer the estrogen level is 950. Is this normal?

Not sure: Generally, nine days after an embryo transfer, you draw your blood for a HCG level. Most clinics do not measure estrogen. If the results are low, it is generally indicative that you may not be pregnant. At our clinic, even if the levels are low, we repeat them in 3-4 days, "just to be sure". Sometimes, but not often, low e2 or HCG levels can result in a good pregnancy. Good luck. ...Read more

What causes progesterone to drop few days after embryo transfer?

What causes progesterone to drop few days after embryo transfer?

No cause: There's no reason for Progesterone to drop following et, but levels definitely will fluctuate. As long as they are within a (pretty wide) range, they are okay. In most et cycles, supplemental Progesterone is given - you don't say in yours. The dosing is adjusted to keep the levels in range. ...Read more

I had a orgasm 4 days after embryo transfer could that have caused me not to conceive? I'm at day 6 now and I'm stressing out. Orgasms wasn't intercoar

No: Many of the things that we ask women not to do or to do after embryo transfer such as restrain from intercourse or bed rest in reality don't have enough scientific evidence to support them. Implantation is a very solid process and it is very unlikely that it will be interrupted by an orgasm. Please don't worry and wait for the pregnancy test. The result of that tests will depends on other factors. ...Read more

3 days of bleeding after embryo transfer is it still safe?

3 days of bleeding after embryo transfer is it still safe?

Probably: Bleeding 3 days post transfer can be caused by a friable, or cervix that's bleed easy, a small bleed behind the gestational sac, following intercourse, the loss of a twin and/or signs of an early miscarriage and a difficult et. If you have any bleeding, contact your doctor immediately. And remember, it may not be a bad sign. Probably would consider starting Progesterone to help quiet the uterus. ...Read more

Whit fluid after embryo transfer normal?

Any: Generally, fluid is used to cleanse the cervix reducing bacteria and increasing the chances of pregnancy. The fluid can be left after the transfer and is experienced by the patient as leaking fluid. We tell patients that the embryos can no fall out after the transfer. Bleeding on day 11 after embryo transfer. Should I be worried?

Possibly: Although up to 23% of women can bleed in early pregnancy, bleeding 11 days after embryo transfer may indicate that the transfer was not successul and you are not pregnant and/or an early sign of a miscarriage or what is called a biochemical pregnancy. You should get a blood HCG level to help determine what is going on. Failed implantation and/or miscarriages are more common as women get older. ...Read more
