Migraine: You have described a typical pattern for occipital migraine, a condition affecting the circulation to the occipital lobe - the visual information processing part of the brain. These are benign, annoying but come from nothing and lead to nothing. Most are over in 5 minutes to 1 hour. If you get another, cover one eye, then the other and you will notice the sparkles in the same 1/2 of each eye. ...Read more
Aura: Many people with classical migraines have stereotyped symptoms that precede the headache, referred to as an aura. If you do have an aura, use this as your trigger to immediately take an abortive medication (nsaids or a triptan), as early aboritve treatment is much more effective than waiting until the headache proper appears. ...Read more

See Eye Dr. Soon:
If a spot always appears in the SAME place in the center of your visual field, rather than just floating by, you may have a problem with the Macula in that eye. This is a small area of your retina that allows you to see fine detail clearly. Such as reading fine print or threading a needle.
The main causes are: age related macular degeneration and macular hole or pucker. SEE http://bit. Ly/1tiadJy ...Read more

Can the sun damage peripheral vision? I was looking at something for about 20 seconds, and it was in my vision. Later there was a spot in my vision.
Yes and no: The focused sun on the retina (any part) will cause damage, often permanent. If you concentrated on looking at something, holding your eye still, something in peripheral view that focuses light on the peripheral retina might have caused damage leading to that spot. The eye gets pain and a strong avoidance reaction to bright light and sun, so this is quite rare except the conditions in eclipse ...Read more

I see a bright spot in my vision in each eye, (like after you stare at the sun) it's been there constantly for 24 hrs. Could it be from lyrica (pregabalin) I'm on?
Should move.: This is from a posterior vitreous detachment. The gel inside your eyes, vitreous, has partially liquefied & is pulling away from the retina which lines the back of your eye. This is a normal with aging. This causes floaters. The only concern is if it begins to pull on the retina & tears it. Retinal tears can lead to retinal detachment & blindness. Go to your doctor immediately if you start to. ...Read more
