Split Lip Stitches
Maybe, maybe not: Generally, if the cut is limited to the red of the lips, it is ususlly left open to self heal. Bacteriostatic factors in saliva keep it from festering. If the cut crosses over into the junction between facial skin and the red, stitches may be needed to line up the edges and prevent healing in a jaged line.

Depends how deep: If it's not split too deep or wide then it can heal on its own. If the bleeding stops and doesn't keep restarting it should be O.K. Otherwise see your dentist or physician.
Punched in the mouth and upper lip is split and swollen, got 3 stitches. How long should it take for swelling to go down (days, weeks?) Any tips?
I fell and split the front of my head open resulting in 6 stitches 8 days ago. I am feeling really tired, is this normal? No x-rays were taken.
Head contusion: Sorry for your accident. After even a mild concussion do not do activities that can compromise your health and cause further head injury. Avoid tasks that require concentration or complicated thinking. Schedule an appointment with your PCP for evaluation and imaging. Also follow the advice of your health care provider. Be well.
My two year old split the top of her mouth open and the ER used the glue instead of stitches is it normal to be swollen?
Yes it is: The swelling will subside. However if you are seeing any increased redness or pus, take you child back to the er.
If it: Opened again completely then the sutures were removed too soon or you accidentally re-traumatized the area before healing matured or both.
Clinical: Judgment. If the laceration is deep or bleeding persist get it examined.
How many days does it take to heal the wounds on lower lip&inner tissues which was cut during accident&stitches are also done by emergency Dr.
Yes: It is easy to stitch the inside of the lip. Only necessary if it is a deep laceration as it usually heals on its own fairly quickly.
I got into an accident yesterday, I got about 4 stitches on the inner side of my lip. Wondering how long it will take for swelling to go away?
Depends: Usually 2 weeks, longer if dissolvable sutures used.
I have a couple small cuts on my inner lip where I used to have stitches at last year. It's pretty tough to eat. It's been 4 days. Should I let it be?
Bleeding?: If you are bleeding, try placing a slightly moist tea bag (black tea or orange pekoe tea, not green, herbal tea) onto the cuts and hold with moderate pressure for 20 minutes. This should significantly reduce the bleeding, if not successful seek dental/ medical help. Soft or liquid diet for a few days.
Yes but likely small: If all your wound required was 3 stitches it is likely to be a very small but permanent scar. Avoiding excessive tension for 3 weeks may help to limit the scar width. Use sunblock and avoid tobacco use. Silicone gel strips or cream may also help.
Poss. Infection: May be a possible infection. See your doctor o whoever stitched your lip.
RICE Therapy: RICE is an acronym for treatments used to reduce swelling after an injury. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compresion and Elevation. While it is not practical to compress your lip, the other three still apply. Time is also on your side, as the swelling should be peaking, and will begin to subside as your healing progresses. If the swelling/pain continues to increase, get in touch with your physician.See 1 more doctor answer
Consult doctor: Here is the information sheet: https://www. Drugs. Com/mtm/orajel.html It does caution use in broken skin as may absorb more although some practitioners are happy for it to be used - varies depending on specialty and country. Safest to consult a doctor, preferably the one who did the stitching.See 1 more doctor answer
2-3 days: In 2-3 days swelling will start to go down. Should be a little less every day after that. Did you discuss this with your Dentist? Were you given instructions about compresses? Were you given anti-inflammatories?
Got punched and cut my bottom lip I got stitches its been for day right bottom feels really hard?
Bottom lip keep swelling stitches in it years ago sunburd them this summer wake up swollen every couple days then gone?
Lip, stitches: You could be having scar tissue there and it should get better over a year. Or a stitch is still there and that will make its way out unless it is a dissolvable type.
