I fractured my right ring finger at the base of the middle phalanx 4 weeks ago. I had it splinted and now got another xray and fracture still present.
Not unusual : It would usually take about 8 weeks for such a fracture to heal and it would not be uncommon at all to not see much at 4 weeks. Yes, not b/c splint: Swelling after an injury to the finger is common and is due mostly to the injury, not the immobilization. Ice, nsaid's and exersice will help decrease the swelling after being splinted. Don't be surprised if you have some residual swelling up to 6 months after injury.
