CORRECT: everything you said is correct. wound bleed after taking sutures out. star strip applied to the wound after taking suture out to allow mobilzation of the digit without taking chance on the wound to split open. you do need to exercise you finger otherwise it will freeze on you. make sure that you do not have a fracture that you might destabilize by finger movement. so far so good,good luck. ...Read more

That does not mean an operation will immediately be recommended.First, you need proper diagnosis,possibly nerve conduction study,possibly steroid injection in hand,physiotherapy,splint.... Moderate-severe pain when moving or using wrist. Started few weeks ago, went away for a while but is back and worse. splinting helps a little, cant grip or make a tight fist or twist wrist without sharp excruciating pain. no finger involvement. ?

Give it time: If splinting helps - do it and be patient. Also try both warm and cold - use both or either if it helps. Let it rest for days and days. It takes time to heal. If it's still bad - have an eval - carpal tunnel can be tough but can be treated. Patience and caution! Best wishes. ...Read more

Yes, not b/c splint: Swelling after an injury to the finger is common and is due mostly to the injury, not the immobilization. Ice, nsaid's and exersice will help decrease the swelling after being splinted. Don't be surprised if you have some residual swelling up to 6 months after injury.
