Joknt: It does take some time to heal of course. However, an x-ray should demonstrate whether or not the fracture is healing, healed, or involves the joint. If its not healed or involves the joint it could still be painful. ...Read more

Not unusual : It would usually take about 8 weeks for such a fracture to heal and it would not be uncommon at all to not see much at 4 weeks. The main reason to check an X-ray at 4 weeks is not really to see if it is healed, but rather to make sure it has not displaced. ...Read more

Ortho: Sounds like a consultation with an orthopedist that specializes in hand surgery would be appropriate. Within the week would probably be best. I would go with a splint until then to be safe. Be sure to bring your X-rays. Hope this helps! ...Read more
