Unknown: Great question! spironolactone increases free estrogen levels in the blood and decreases androgen effects, and in men can cause breast growth. Lowest dose of Spironolactone bill is 25 mg. My BP Avge 100/65 on it. When cutting it in half, BP no more than 130/80.Do you recommend using 12.5 mg?
Need more info: Hi. We need more information. Why were you prescribed Spironolactone instead of some other BP medicine? Did you have low blood potassium and high blood pressure? If so, and it's due to the adrenal steroid, Aldosterone, if adrenal surgery is not an option, Spironolactone (or preferably Eplerenone) is the best drug.
