When will I be getting back to normal from a spiral leg fracture?

1-4 months, varies

Leg
This depends widely depending on the exact location of the fracture, which bone or bones (tibia or fibula) are involved, the degree of displacement of the fracture, bone quality, alignment of the fracture, treatment choice, and what your definition of "normal" is. You should ask your orthopedic specialist what they predict for your recovery.

What's a spiral fracture?

Spiral fracture

This is a fracture that is not linear and does not cross the width of the bone. It is usually elongated and travels the length of the bone instead of the width of the bone.

describe spiral fracture?

Biscuit pack opening

Open-uri20121101-8625-1wwop5g
Similar to image of a container of pre-made biscuits being opened, a spiral fracture basically unravels as it breaks commonly due to the rotatory force applied to the bone at the time of injury. The increased bony surface area between the two fracture parts may help provide a more robust healing environment

Metacarpal spiral fracture -- cast or splint?

Either one ma y be

Forearm_fractures
used. If the fracture is felt to be potentially unstable a cast may be more likley selected if it is felt that the full time presence of that cast vs. the tendency to remove a splint make a difference . the issue with spiral fractures is to check rotation by genty making a fist to make sure the finger is not rotated and needing of a reduction or surgery ( internal fixation )
