The most common cause of vertigo is inner ear disease brought about by a viral infection (labyrinthitis), head trauma (benign positional vertigo, postconcussive syndrome), or meniere's disease (triad of vertigo, tinnitus, and sensorineural hearing loss). Many reasons: Lightheadedness after standing up can be due to orthostatic hypotension if your resting BP is too low or you're dehydrated.
