Yes: Some spider bites are painful and can be dangerous. In many parts of america the brown recluse (fiddle back) and black widow spiders are found. Both can give a nasty bite. I have seen many brown recluse bites that look bruised to the patient but the tissues are much worse off that just bruised. Where do you live?: Brown recluse spiders are found in central and southwest states. Their bites are quite rare, usually painful, forming ulcers. Unless you saw the spider, felt the bite, and took the spider to an expert, assume it is something else. Black widow bites are even more rare.
