Sperm Fertilizing Egg Acrosomal Reaction
Can abnormal sperm fertilize an egg? Would pregnancy continue normally if the fertilizing sperm was abnormal??
Depends: Hi. "Normal" and "abnormal" are points on a spectrum, with a continuum between them. So it depends how you define normal. Normal sperm (good viability, good swimmers) can hold a very bad allele that can cause really bad disease; would you call that a "normal" sperm since it fertilized the egg? If you define that sperm as abnormal because of the deleterious mutation, then yes, preg can continue. ...Read more
Here are some...: Abnormal sperms denote those sperms with odd shape or poor motility, which tend to less possibly penetrate the timely waiting egg. Nonetheless, if luckily and successfully penetrating to get into the egg takes place, fertilization (union) occurs to form zygote which in turn undergo cell division to form embryo, which will embed onto uterine mucosa (endometrium) where it eventually develops fetus ...Read more
Tubal pregnancy: Fertilized egg in the Fallopian tube is a surgical emergency because as the pregnancy develops the tube will rupture and can be fatal for the mother. Unfertilized eggs would eventually be tea sorbet by the body, but should not get stuck if the Fallopian tubes are normal. See your GYN doc if you think this is happening. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How many days after fertilization does the fertilized egg become a blastocyst? Then embryo? What implants-the blastocyst or embryo?
The process: As the fertilized egg divides, it is first known as a morula. Approximately 5 days from first fertilization it forms into a hollow ball known as a blastocyst. This blastocyst implants and begins to sort itself out into different layers--the inner group becomes the embryo and the outer layer will work to nourish and protect. At approximately 6-7 weeks from time of fertilization, an embryo begins. ...Read more
Can sperm be frozen to be used with frozen eggs (w/o fertilizing an egg before egg is frozen)? If so, can frozen sperm be shipped for storage w/ egg?
Ihave14,21 balanced translocation, did egg retrieval ystrday in IVF pgd process.16eggs got fertilized. Is it good number for pgd to find normal embryos?
Count is 10 million .. Slugghish motile sperm 25%... Using this immotile sperm will icsi success ? Already we have 2 failed icsi ..
It should work!: Icsi (injecting a sperm into an egg) bypasses poor motility and should succeed. If you have failed two ivf/icsi cycles, i strongly suggest you defer a third cycle, gather up your records, and undergo a second opinion consult at a facility that has a high ivf success rate (you can see mine, for example, at: http://ivfmd.Com/eng/statistics_1.Htm most of my patients conceive on cycle #1! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Husban sperm count 60 sperm motility 90 normal form 9%elongted 2% small absent acrosomes 5% other abnormalities 84%good for intra uterine insemitation?
Yes: Yes good for iui, but if that is his consistent result (on two tests), and the cervix is normal and you are not using Clomid (clomiphene) as a stimulation drug for fertility treatment, there is no good evidence that IUI actually increases pregnancy rates. Iui became popular as a treatment to balance the negative effect of Clomid (clomiphene) on the cervical mucous. Now with newer drugs not so necessary. Good luck. ...Read more

Frozen sperm. Fresh eggs. Both proven donors. Nulligravid 42 yo woman. Odds of conception after et with 3?
Very good: The odds are excellent as long as all other aspects of your workup have been negative. Pregnancy rate with 2 embryos can give a 70% chance. Replacing 3 embryos in this situation would not be suggested as long as the egg donor was 21-28. Most donors are not accepted over 30. The risk of triplets is quite high and would cause significant obstetrical issues such as prematurity, decreased fetal size.. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
