Soybean Allergy (Overview)

Soybean allergy means having symptoms when eating soybeans or related foods. The most common symptoms are abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea ; and/ or skin symptoms such as a itchy rash. Sensitization is a positive allergy test which is not the same as allergy (symptoms) since as many as 50 % of people with a positive allergy test don't have symptoms when eating the food.

Depends: I'd like to add that its important to differentiate between IgE-mediated food allergy and food intolerance. Soy is one of the more uncommon allergens in adults, whereas an intolerance may persist forever. But with food intolerance, you can have comfort in the fact that you will not suffer a life-threatening reaction if soy is ingested. ...Read more

Usually ok: Vegetable oils usually contains very little protein and thus most soy-allergic patients can tolerate the oil without problem. I doubt that you are truly allergic to 8 foods. Consult a B/C allergist to get this sort out before you end up with malnutrition and an impaired QOL. Just because a skin test or blood test is positive does not necessarily mean true allergy. ...Read more

Bilateral knee pain: Assuming you underwent arthroscopic lateral retinacular releases to attempt to realign the tilt of your patella , and the fact that u still have significant knee pain ,indicates that your problem has not been helped by the releases. Infortunately that sometimes occurrs when the amount of damage to the underside of the knee cap is substantial. Things u can do , increase quad strength by walking in a heated pool waist high, daily for 15-20 min. Lose 20 lbs . Take glucosamine and fish oil. May also use alleve 2 tabs twice a day for 4 weeks.
