Heartburn?: If you're describing sourness in back of your throat, what's been described as "brackish" taste, you might have heartburn or reflux. Here in the states, you can try over-the-counter h2 blockers like ranitidine, etc. Even mild proton pump inhibitors are available w/o prescription. Or simply calcium carbonate like tums. Acclimatization: is more likely, not damage. When people from countries where spices are heavily used move to countries where they are not, they often experience shock when they visit home and are exposed again to spices. Your taste buds "turn over" all the time. So not to worry if one layer is damaged anyway. ...Read more
